Hi all

Have a 300GIG seagate IDE harddrive, but now it is only showing 128 GIG in windows, control panel, and if I want to format my pc.

What can I do to fix this??

Thanks

You need to create another partition on there, there's probably a lot of unpartitioned space. You can either use fdisk or a more graphical app like Partition Magic.

In the "format menu" (where you install a fresh copy of xp) it shows 128 gig and 8 mb unpartitioned. Deleted everything on the HD and the unpartition space is 128GIG.

Thanks guys it worked,1) but what will happen if I should format again??

2) how did it happen in the first place

thanks all

If you want to reinstall, you will need a Windows XP CD that has Service Pack 2 built in.

You can m ake your own legal XP install CD with SP2 built in, it's called slipstreaming.

And as the wise man here just said, Google is your friend. :)

It can be either one of two things:

1. Unpartitioned space

2. You need to update your BIOS

3. If it aint one of those two, kiss it goodbye
