Should we split the Hardware and Software forum into two separate Hardware and Software forums? Please vote in the poll above…

no, since our discussions about the software often concern the hardware as well.

My vote is that you seperate the "TV, DSTV, movies & Entertainment" forum from the other hardware forum "TVs, photography, home entertainment systems, computer systems" etc. Anything that is strictly hardware can go in there.

The other option is to carve off a "computer troubleshooting" forum and leave this one as is.

I went for yes...Pretty much on the fence, though. Don't mind either way. (The Classifieds on the other hand...)

I vote yes ............. often a software issue gets lost in the flood of hardware issues. So yes please, split welcomed.

Splitting it is just not practical. Consider the following questions, and where they would go hardware/software:

How do I measure the performance of my HDD/CPU/GPU?
My computer will not start?
I get a BSOD?
How do I recover data from my busted HDD?

Can think of 1 000 000 more examples....

Do you measure performance of a HDD/CPU/GPU with hardware or software
Hardware
Software

Do you measure performance of a HDD/CPU/GPU with hardware or software
Software. What about how do I make my HDD/CPU/GPU work faster?
Hardware
Software

Most people though would try to recover data from a broken disk using software. My point is that it is difficult to split the two, cause they will mostly overlap....
