That is a very vague statement. I assume you mean gaming setups. For an office machine your run of the mill entry level motherboard still runs on 2666mhz but will switch down to 2400mhz if you install these. These entry level motherboards only have 2 slots so 8GB would be the max using 2 x 4GB dimms.

Exactly. Just 2 pages ago someone asked about a celeron setup which I replied on and has a decent board with 2 ram slots running at 2133 / 2400 / 2666mhz. It would be a decent enough setup for a htpc upto 1080p I would imagine.Good enough for an HTPC

Bought from them a few times, they are legit. Located in Cape town. Few people in the xiaomi thread has also bought from them without any problem.
Bought a xiaomi powerbank from them once and the charging cable was slightly damaged and I phoned them and they send me a new better cable free.

You are very funny. I posted it twice cause it was applicable in both threads. If you actually read the xiaomi thread you will see people dont trust miphones, so the same thing you said about smartphoneshop is actually applicable to miphones
The 128GB version has been on mia africa a while, the whole point of me posting was the price of the 256GB version. You will even see on gearbest their price with import cost are basically same as my post and if I can purchase locally I would rather do that for warranty purposes.

Anyone buy from aliexpress before? came across this Redmi note 8 pro. are deals on it trustworthy or is it like buying from wish.com? If it is trustworthy, is that the only costs or are there hidden charges like customs still to be added when it gets here?

Well nobody's perfect. I buy a lot from takealot too and they have cancelled my orders several times when their site clearly stated there was stock or got it wrong totally. But I can tell you that smartphoneshop is legit. Anyone that is in Cape Town area that walk into their actual shop will confirm that. They are not a purely online shop.
As far as connected devices go, I have ordered several smart speakers from them and recommend them to people in the xiaomi thread that bought e.g. the mi band 4 that was very happy with their purchases.
Then you're limited to 8GB which is wholly inadequate today. Even an office pc should have at least 16GB to turn off virtual memory. That makes the most difference in any setup more so than adding an SSD. If you add an SSD without enough memory so that it keeps swapping to disk it severely shortens its lifespan. And entry level is now becoming 3200MHz. I've seen the difference between 2666MHz and 3466MHz as being 5 vs 2 minutes for a program to load so I don't want to know how slow 2400MHz would be.

The board I mentioned is not limited to 8GB - I only mentioned using the 4GB ram special that was mentioned above would limit you to 8GB. Anyways I have a home / office pc with 8GB and a 240GB SSD / 1TB hdd combo and it flies with windows 10.
Also more than enough for a HTPC as said above.
Most modern SSD have plenty of TB written rates, trick is actually not to fill a SSD up to the brim but leave 10% space on the drive and it will last you for years.
You have obviously never worked on a 2666mhz setup, you wont see the difference in everyday use, only when doing 3d rendering and other specialized uses.

It's precisely the 4GB advertised I was referring to which will limit you to 8GB on those PCs. And I have worked on a 2666MHz vs 3466MHz setup. Not specialised stuff but 5 minutes vs 2-3 for a browser to load.
