I think I might have got the last one in JHB
a62da27c3e1553ef201f5ed7710ca51b.jpg

Used it for 1 day, actually 3 hours. I'm returning this.

The Ultrawide coupled with the height does not justify the R1999 I spent.
Hell, my 23" seems bigger, lol. And that screen is going strong for 10 years old.

I'm looking for an affordable 27", how does this fair.

I'm after that Dell as well. Have seen it go for R2400 once before.

Not bad but after I upgraded to Samsung 27' these panels looked bad, low response time and washed out colours.

Here's my suggestion -again / some more....

If you're going 27", go for:
1440p with an IPS panel.

Avoid:
TN panels -especially Dell TN panels at that size.
(I ordered the Dell 27" 1440p, TN, G-Sync panel. The panel was so bad [after being used to IPS] I returned it less than a week later.)

If you can't get at least 1440p IPS on 27" right now, keep using your 24" until you can afford it.

Good luck with your next purchase

Could you please measure the actual screen part of the screen for me, excl. the bezel? Specifically interested in the height...

See size comparison below:

I bought one of these waay back and I immediately had buyer's remorse when I opened the box. It's really-really small.
(It's a slightly wider 20" screen. I used it for a couple of years, though. IPS FTW!)

For context:

(If I could do it over, I'd have gone for a normal 24" IPS screen over this, 100% of the time.)

Imagine a slightly wider 20" 16:9 monitor:

You did say that it was 20" basically.

At R700, this is a bargain. Note that this is last year's model.

Check this out on takealot: Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones (Air)
anyone see TWS earbuds but with airpod style tips, silicon tips hurt my ears, from a decent brand at around this price?

Exactly this. I have a Dell 1440 IPS at 27" and it's awesome.
27" is too big a screen size for 1080p, but too small for 4k
(We have 27" 4k monitors at work - horrible! Tiny font. Then you turn it up and you lose the point of having high res as your screen usage is now equivalent to 1080p)

We also had those LG Ultrawides for a while - nice for gaming, rubbish for work. As you said, you lose too much vertical screen real-estate.

My rule of thumb is:
23 - 25" = 1080p
above 25", to about 30" = 2K
Above 30" = 4K
