I see that TakeALot has Xiaomi and Romoss power banks available

https://www.takealot.com/romoss-sense-10-10000mah-power-bank-black/PLID44046277

https://www.takealot.com/xiaomi-10-000-mah-mi-powerbank-2s-black/PLID52092169

They both appear to be the same so difficult to know how to choose.

It would mainly be used for charging cellphone (Samsung and Huawei) and tablet (Lenovo) and possible bluetooth speaker and fitness trackers (Garmin / Fitbit)

Any advise?
Get whichever one supports qualcomm quick charge, awesome to charge your phone in a flash whilst on the go.

I can also vouch for romoss. Recently bought the sense 10 15000mah and working excellent. Also had some other romoss models in the past and they performed without any problems.

Depends on what version of quickcharge you talking about:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quick_Charge
I guess it could be quickcharge 1.0, but that is pretty old by now and kind of misses the point. The improvements in 2 and 3 were significant so I'd much rather buy at least QC2 compatible powerbank.

I got the Xiaomi 10000mah Pro just over two years ago and it is still going like a boeing. It charges and discharges at QC2 which is really super handy.

Agreed. Both powerbank and device must support quickcharge 2 though, but for future proofing the abovementioned Xiaomi @ R80 more will be better cause it support quickcharge 2

"Shop the world with MallforAfrica. With MallforAfrica, it’s easy to shop for things you love without leaving the comfort of your home. From fashion to gadgets to auto parts, you can browse and buy, pay simply with PayPal, then pick up locally."

Received the link in a paypal regular communication email. Wonder if using it will be easier and / or cheaper than using sites like amazon directly.

Edit: just did a checkout via their chrome extension and shipping seems slightly less than 'AmazonGlobal Standard Shipping' on website itself but they add a 'Convenience Fee' to orders.

Might use it for items that Amazon does not ship to Afrique du Sud. It does seem to offer a service that addresses that niche in our market atm. Can you please tell me how your experience was with buying through them? I am waiting for user reviews before committing hard cash through them.

And how is customs paid or calculated?

Haven't paid for an order just did a sample checkout and then I saw breakdown of customs, shipping, convenience fee. Maybe someone can give feedback here after using them

It seems its a chrome extension not a website and it only has a few reviews but only from Nigerian shoppers. That is way more risk than I can take.

Definitely needs to be used more by SA shoppers and have those reviews posted before it can be labelled as a trusted service, plus as I've stated, Amazon delivers some products to SA that satisfies my shopping needs atm.
