My order is showing cancelled today... got this email about an hour ago:

Thank you for your interest in this item.
Unfortunately, there was a listing issue with the information our supplier provided.
They had an incorrect price advertised which they cannot honour.
We will be canceling this item from your order and crediting your profile.

Now to get my refund. Eish, there goes my dream for an upgrade.

Anyone order theirs from RARU? My brother ordered one from them and his still seems to be on track so far.

It does sort of bother me that these online stores blame suppliers without holding them accountable. As customers we don't deal with the supplier, our agreement is with the retailer.

The argument that this was an obvious error in terms of the CPA wouldn't be a good one since on Evetech the same card is going for R2,999, so not it's not remotely inconceivable that it was in fact on sale.

It can't really be compared to other RX580's in its class, since the ARMOR cooler is actually quite poor compared to similar models from other brands, hence the lower price point globally.

Damn

They even cheaper on carbonite.
Yes but carbonite is second hand.

Yes you are correct. The CPA has a clause about obvious errors but this isn't obvious. With GPU prices falling, new cards on the horizon, and a flooded second hand market it's quite conceivable that a card can go for half price.

Agreed, they should honor the listed price and the burden should fall on the supplier. What can the retailer really do?

As per the CPA - "a supplier may not accept money from a consumer, if s/he is not able to supply goods or services as a result of insufficient stock or incapacity to render a service. A consumer must be refunded any amount paid plus interest."

At most, you'd be able to demand roughly ~R10, if you can prove that you incurred a financial loss due to interest being incurred. [Overdraft/etc]

Also as per the CPA:
"Subject to subsections (7) to (10), a supplier must not require a consumer to pay a price for any goods or services—
(a) higher than the displayed price for those goods or services; or
(b) if more than one price is concurrently displayed, higher than the lower or lowest of the prices so displayed…

If a price as displayed contains an inadvertent and obvious error, the supplier is not bound by it after—
(a) correcting the error in the displayed price; and
(b) taking reasonable steps in the circumstances to inform consumers to whom the erroneous price may have been displayed of the error and the correct price."

According to the CPA it's only after a supplier corrects a price that it's no longer bound to it. In the case of an online transaction an offer was made, accepted by both parties and paid for. The interesting bit however is that the CPA doesn't apply to online transaction but the ECA does. According to the ECA a supplier can state in their Ts&Cs when a transaction is completed. It's only where it's not stated that the default applies of a price being binding after a consumer accepts an offer.

Almost a month on my side to get my money back. Was also graphics card that became out of stock.

Yeah Raru have been flushed down the shitter when it comes to refunds. Rather juggle revolvers and pangas than shop at Raru.
