Would prefer one that doesn't need separate power just for ease of use. So I can easily plug and play to watch media on a TV.

Think I'll just wait and see what pops up on Black Friday as the main reason I want it is for travelling with media for the December holidays.

Just make sure the tv you gonna use it on support the size hard drive you want to connect. Some older tvs sometimes dont properly read bigger drives
 
Is it easy to use these drives as internal or do they come with some special controller?

No special controller needed if you have a modern-ish PC. It's just a matter of formatting it correctly which isn't difficult.

Easy to shuck these drives, this 8tb expansion model comes with a Seagate ST8000DM004 internal model (also available on takealot for like double the price).

I have shucked quite a few different model external drives (mostly seagates though). Before opening the casing you can use an application like hard disk sentinel to check the model of the internal drive which will give you an indication if it is likely to be shuckable.

When opening the casing, if you do it properly and keep the plastic clips intact you can even re-use the casing for another sata drive - I have done it before without problems.

From a source on the ground. These things planned well in advance. Yes Black Friday. But looking at current pricing for that model R500 off is hardly Black Friday material.

Good deal, yes. I bought my original MX Master for around R1300 on special a good while ago.
Just be aware that the MX Master 3 has recently been released.

As for the mouse itself, it is amazing. You can't go wrong with it.
