Ok, hooked it up, problem is that my mom's VCR is plugged in and recording her soapies :erm: :p

So all of the power points are being used at the moment and I can't hook my external HDD up.

Also my 8GB USB Flash Drive is at a friend's place, so can't test the USB functionality just yet.

So will have to wait till the soapies are done, test it out and report back.

There aren't any other power points available at the other TV's or my PC to check it out with.

So will get back soon with more info on it.

Good news thus far, plays DVD's just fine :D

LOL, That is the worst review I have ever read ;)

She does not have HD DSTV and is never going to get Bluray etc so full HD will probably be a waste of money. Does it make a big difference to the price?

And I am assuming from the answers to far that at these sizes LCD will be the most cost effective (or only?) option?

i'll sell u my sony 720p 42" monitor for 5000, then I will go buy me a full HD panel :)

Mine Gods!

Never heard of usatoyou? Them not some scamsite?

I have been getting some quotes in for 17" notebooks, all are in the 12K-16K range... that Toshiba seamed like a good deal.

BUT even cheaper at your link... must investigate usatoyou methinks...

EDIT: Are these legit? Man those prices are too low to be true!!

@S&B: What are the dimensions of that GemSound DVD player?

HiFi Corporation is selling it for R99-99 at their opening sale on 29th October (starts 7am) at the Glen Shopping Centre in Oakdene (see details and pic in the link below). There are also large discounts on many other products such as laptops, netbooks (Lenovo 160GB ~R1300), LCD TVs, monitors etc. if anybody is interested ...

Good idea rodga, I was never going to format the HDD anyway :p

Yotch, its tiny.

If I had to hazard a guess, maybe 15x15 cm each way.

Perhaps slightly longer.

Will measure it off tomorrow.

If any1 is going to this glen hi fi corp opening please let me know i would really like one of the lg 19" lcd's

Wow, i want that lenovo netbook so badly!!!! almost spent 3000 on a netbook, at 1300 its insane. How i wish i didn't have to work. :(
