Was about to say, at that price and spec that Toshiba is an absolute steal!!

I got a 2nd hand HP Pavilion DV9293 if you want. 17" on a laptop defeats the object IMHO...

LOL.. 17" does in a sense... BUT THEN I do not have to use a multi-monitor set-up! The 17" would be fine for me... 90% deskbound with some need for mobility.

The Pavilion range I have been warned to avoid by more than one person... so may have to think it over.

Yeah, I've had the CPU, MOBO and graphics card replaced twice on this thing in 2 and a half years, once under warranty and once at my insurance companies expense.

Recently replaced the battery too...

This laptop only ever leaves home twice a month for a couple of hours at a time so considering that it probably hasn't aged as well it should have...

A lot of you guys seem to keep an eye out for these things so please point me in the direction of a great price on a flat screen TV. LCD, Plasma, OLED not fussy. The mom in laws old CRT in the bedroom has blown and she is looking at getting a flat screen to mount on the wall. It needn't be large as it will be replacing a regular TV - what is that again 54cm I think?

I remember seeing a Samsung 42" plasma at Nashua for R6 or 7k...

HD Ready..

Keep an eye out for the 32" Samsung LA32B350. They can be had for close to R4000 sometimes, and for someone who isn't using it as a monitor or for 1080p content, it'll be ideal. I have the LA32B530 version, which costs around R2000 more, but it's worth it for me, as I often use it to view high-resolution content.

You cheapskate :D.

Less cheapskate, more overkill ;)

I'll keep and eye out for that. Thanks.

Check out the AVA expo this weekend if you in Jhb, or the AVA specials on the Cats Website if you're not ... haven't really been following prices, but I think there are some good deals.
Only thing, is website AVA specials are only shipped from Monday. But orders need to be in before.

Hammer Storage HU1100-1000 1TB Morespace External Hard
NORMAL PRICE R 1,451.00
Special Price R 1,099.00

Ah afraid not on this option.

Colleagues and I went out for a break from the office and chanced into HiFi Corp and 3 of us walked out with them :D

At R250, this would be ok for the risk and it has a 1 year guarantee too.
So will see how this plays out.

Hi Shake&Bake
I'm looking for a device to play stuff off an external.
What was the verdict on the test with the GemSound box?
Thx
