Netgear routers are **** to say the least. Rather go for Billion / Siemens / D-Link / TP-Link instead.

Don't go for billion. Had some issues getting it to sync with our ADSL lines here. @ different lines. Rather go for the D-link

How would you buy it without paying tax in the US? Besides, the warranty issues make it less valuable anyway.

Fair point....as well you would be paying the tax, included in the purchase, if you could get it right.

Anyone remember about 5 maybe 6 years ago, that Trevor said that in the interest of growing the nations in terms of It, blah blah...he removed ALL IMPORT TAX on PC hardware. I rememeber this clearly, even got the budget from then, at stated it...but guess what...we never saw it! Why? Because the suppliers just took it and added it to profits.

I queried this with some large suppliers, they gave me the "Its import duties (BS) and the shipping costs which make it so expensive." I asked, how can I get something (1 item) shipped here for X (US Retail price), but when they ship it here in the thousands then it costs X+20-30% (cost to distributors)

You still pay VAT calculated on 110% of the value so basically 15%. South africa suppliers have to give a warranty so will have to ship stuff back for 1 in every x units as well.
