Price per GB it's good. Not everyone is going to store critical data, and most could just back it up.

Seeing as it's the same price as a normal external 5tb drive. But has the added bonus of being a NAS and the ability to be an Dlna and Plex server. Is an added bonus. It also has 2 USB ports that you can add extra drives for redundancy. You can also back up the drive to Dropbox/google drive or even S3 I think.

Price per GB it's good. Not everyone is going to store critical data, and most could just back it up.

Altough the price/GB is good, the solution is really poor as it provides no redundancy - i.e. it is a single 5TB HDD. For roughly 5K you can get a custom FreeNas solution going which is not as locked in as the Seagate.
