Hi there

We have received requests from a few hardware vendors whether they can inform users about special offers in the forum. This is currently not allowed, but the suggestion was made to have a ‘paid for’ forum (a new forum) where vendors will have to pay a fee and can then inform users about special offers etc. This forum will obviously be a separate forum.

Users will be allowed to discuss these offers in the forum and interact with these vendors in the ‘vendor forum’. This seems to have been successful in other forums, but we want to hear your feedback first before trialing such a system.

BTW: I think it will be of value if members actually set the standard in such a forum (what such potential posts must say, how many are allowed etc)...

I think it would be an excellent idea. Especially with all the combined forumites knowledge when it comes to these things and how we are always looking for a bargain. I think this can only add to myadsl's appeal as well.
 
I completely agree. Think it's a great idea, and as a reseller would be more than happy to pay to be able to showcase my products and specials. :) I know systemshock has a similar concept if I'm not mistaken - will look into what they charge for a reseller.

Please keep us updated on progress.
 
I'm also all for this.

What we as forumites need to do though is not turn the dealer posts/sales into a debate forum about things being cheaper here and there.
 
systemshock.co.za has the same "resellers pay" and it works there. Just don't make it the focus of mybroadband because systemshock takes it too far.

This is a great idea. :)

But why not make it a Sub-Forum in the Hardware and Software section instead of a new forum? :confused: Maybe only give resellers the "rights" to start new threads in the section. That way we won't have too many threads and forumites can only post replies.

When I speak about a forum it is actually a section. Hardware and Software = forum, Mac = forum, Linux = forum etc. It will therefore be another forum or sub-forum depending on the interest.

I like it. The normal classifieds section needs to be sorted first though IMO. Spammers and scammers still run riot there.

Looks like you guys gave the go ahead - will start with the trial plans and we can finetune everything that it suits the needs of all parties.
