Has cadbury's quality dropped?

'Remember Toblerone? Now that stuff was incredible.'
It will be a sad day when I hear that conversation.

Many years ago:

Me: Babe, please stop buying me Toblerone.
GF: Whaaat? Why?
Me: Because then I have to share them with you.
GF: :wtf:

I actually can't remember when I had toblerone last.

They were popular in the late 90s and early 2000s. Well, for me at least :erm:
Also can't remember the last time I had one but definitely remember wondering why we didn't eat them more often. Then my daughter walked past and I remembered why.

Chocolate log 15 years ago:
Creamy marshmallow on crisp wafer covered in milk chocolate.

Chocolate log today:
Desiccated marshmallow like substance on sugary, slightly soggy wafer like substance covered in coloured sugar designed to look like milk chocolate.

LOL, Chomp's labels crack me up. "Caramel and wafer in chocolate flavoured coating"

Not sure what you guys are on about.. I would absolutely devour a Cadbury's Bubbly right now... but maybe it's coz I've been on a no-sugar diet for 3 weeks and the cravings are killing me :p

Eish.. now that TV Bar advert is playing in my head... "Imagine it was raining crispy delicious crunchy rice and toasted coconut.. imagine a river of milk falling into a chocolate whirlpool.." :/

Beacon is asking R70 for their box of easter eggs. Beacon can shove every egg one by one for all I care. That box was R50 last year and even then it was a rip off.

Snickers has really got me though. Those 2 in one bars are really good. One for now and one for later and they are so rich that they do a better job than a whole slab of Cadbury

Chocolate for later? What's that?

Geeeeehaz. I remember when it was R39.99, even then i though it was expensive for bloody marshmallow dipped in tasteless and extremely thin layer of chocolate.

Maybe your tastes have just become much more sophisticated compared to when you were a child.

Have to agree with you on this. The chic log of today is very different from the chic of a few years ago.

Does anyone remember when rowntree was still around ? Smarties and kit Kat was theirs iirc. The gum drops were awesome. Nowadays Gum drops are like the made from used bubble gum.

It's just business. You charge a price the customer can bear. Cadbury can make a decent chocolate for R20, but the average punter unwilling to pay for that so they just fiddle the ingredients to keep the price the same.

Probably all related to the price of Cocoa, which is priced in $ . The rand is in the toilet at the moment, so the chocolate quality suffers

Meh. With Beacon, you got what you paid for. But with Nestle and Cadbury, they aren't the same anymore.

We've switched to Milka. Tasted it in Germany, and it tastes just like milk chocolate should taste.

Thanks did not know Milka existed, just found them at Checkers, R16 a slab. Tastes brilliant. Just become my favourite chocolate at that price.

You can actually see the difference.

The chocolate logs of today look as if the marshmallow spent a few minutes in a vacuum chamber.

/makes note to check out these Milka chocolates

/makes note to show the missus the note about these Milka chocolates
