Hi

I am trying to setup a VOIP account on my Huawei B315(Telkom LTE uncapped) router.
However, when setting up my SIP account, it gets stuck at registering, and dosent move to registered.

Ive tried getting help from FNB connect, but was unsuccesful

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Keep us posting. I heard stories that SIP box do not work properly with some service providers. Or works when connecting cellular, but fails when using WAN RJ45 interface. Or other stories that it requires public IP. Some other guys suggested to make a call (despite of status showing 'registering'). After first call it supposed to be fixed. A call can be made from the analog handset plugged to RJ11 socket in the router. Router default is to make cellular call, but there is settings to use it for SIP call.

How do you want to use SIP? If you have desktop or mobile SIP client app, it will connect properly if you point client to the SIP server. Just make sure to enable on B315s SIP ALG (in firewall settings). It is a different mechanism to the setting SIP account on the router.

Added: I noticed that on the Sip Account page B315s require the same value in "Sip account" and "User name" fields. I tried with few accounts (not FNB), always the same.

never used the SIP account settings on the router, a sip app client or phone with sip account settings works without tampering.

It is convenient as computer equipment can be switched off. You can plug in ordinary analog phone to the router. SIP convertors or SIP phones cost R1000+. I bought B315s router for R999. Elderly people see it as a Telkom phone line.

In addition, SIP clients on PC and my phone do not support G729 codec, but router does. For longers conversations it is wise to save on cellular data bundle.

I use Bria and it support (and I'm using) G729
Well, my invitation for Bria Play is on the way, possible? :)

Zoiper paid version also has G729, but not a free version I use on phone and PC. There are some freeware with G729, but Zoiper works flawlesly.

HI,

has anyone managed to get this to work? i know using a SIP phone would work but im trying to create the most cost effective solution to get voip into a home with no current connectivity. I also had the same problem using my product Call Clear from Clear Group.

There's a thread here detailing the steps to get it to work using a normal land line. I think it was using the b593 router but the steps are almost the same.

Will check if I can find it and post the link here.
