I wonder if it is really cheaper and worth it all the hassle. Might as well check TAL or local sites.

they have lots of things that Takealot will never ever have or ever get - in fact lots of things that you will rarely find here from what i have seen - not sure of the quality of their goods because i havent encountered them yet but many things that i have seen on their ads are not things easy to find here - and i'm just stating this as a matter of fact and not trying to make you buy stuff from them just to clarify my position because i don't really know if they are scammers too - just commenting on what i have noticed

Just got my notification for import taxes. I need to pay R225 on a R1500 order.
Also just did a test run. Order was about R550 and customs was R86,01.
Looks like they only charge straight 15% vat and no duties?

Temu/Shein/Banggood/eBay are all marketplaces and all sell just about the same stuff.
If you know what you are looking for and how to find the decent stuff you can get really good value and also get access to stuff near impossible to find in South Africa .

for example ? And how was delivery experience ?
I had a basket of stuff for my kids birthday, and some other items I've been looking for to restore an old arcade machine. Maybe 12 or so items in total. My wife was convinced it would be cheaper to get the items through Shein, and every single item worked out a few Rands cheaper

I just checked TAL. Stuff I ordered with customs duties paid on Temu comes to R376. Delivery from 19th Feb. Same on TAL R716 with delivery from 23rd Feb.
Agree. Not everything is cheap but all the stuff we ordered in this test run was 35-50% cheaper than the cheapest equivalent on TAL. This included VAT/customs and delivery was free.

If one orders various items, do they send them all in one parcel?

I have no idea how they calculate the Customs and VAT fees. I just received an email and automated phone call to pay the fees on my parcel ordered 2 days ago. The total of purchase of this order was more than the 1st order but the custom/vat fees are less, but I'm not complaining.

My payment to Buffalo was R107. My order amount was R722. So roughly 15% which is VAT.

My 1st order was also roughly 15%. The 2nd order was R625 and I paid customs/vat this morning and it was R79,79.

I don't mind paying less.

Well all the items I bought were cheaper than I would get them at TAL.

Helping hands: R173 (Temu) R199 (TAL)
Wire strippers R98 (Temu) R199 (TAL - the most similar type)
Flux paste 10cc R17 (Temu) R97 (TAL)

Temu Total = R288 + R58 (duties) = R346
TAL total = R495 (Would have to spend R5 more to get free shipping)
I made a small order of around R450 to check on delivery and quality. I was surprised by an extra charge of R96 for taxes and duties. The items have not yet arrived.

Interesting going by what others paid the duties/vat is all around 20%, I wonder why your R625 order only got R79/12% customs/vat?

Duties are weird. Amazon is around 20% and they precalculate it when you select an item. Not exactly 20% but around 20-22% depending on the item.

That's for small cheap items. For more expensive items it can be 58% like this portable screen:
And for this soccer shirt 68%
That's why ordering from overseas is so difficult as you can get slapped with huge duties

I did an order for around R900 on Sat, paid tax (R115) on Sunday. Buffalo tracking has it at aChinese Airport (outbound) at the moment.

What kind of items were they and was the shipping free?
