Sorry guys but here I go again. If the .......... can charge you R1,20 PER MEGABYTE when you go over, THEN "WRAGTAG" ROLLOVER man ROLLOVER. Why should we get millions of votes. Just do it. I hope the guys that are suppose to make the decision are reading these post's.

Please start your own thread for "price carryover into out of bundle" instead of derailing this thread every couple of posts.

As you are well aware, this thread is sole for the purpose of discussing as well as voting for data rollover on the Vodacom Network.

Sorry as I said but I am making a point for ROLLOVER.

I like your suggested heading.

:o:o

Sorry, I was a bit rude:o

Vodacom is certainly not going to offer rollover unless enough people ask for it or it is in their best interest to offer rollover ( a competitor is offering rollover / they are losing customers because they don't have rollover). My guess is that that out of data bundle revenue stream makes up a significant portion of their data revenue.

On page 8 of the Winter 2007 of the Vodaworld magazine, there is a letter, "No EDGE in Durban" and the author complains, among others, that data bundles do not carry over. The editor's reply is as follows:"In respect of carrying over any used data bundle megabytes, Vodacom now allows its customers to carry over any remaining bytes to the next month"
Just to clarify, the underlined part is as it reads in the magazine, the used should have been unused I think.

I suspect the editor is misinformed, but I hope not!
So where to get clarification on this?

I suspect the editor actually did mean used data bundle megabytes, and if so I think the editor needs to be sent to the principal's office before that corporal punishment law comes into effect.

I certainly haven't noticed the ~200MB I didn't use last month being carried-over for me to use this month :(.

v3g?

No, no roll-over, sorry!

Journalism often won't let small things like facts stand in the way of a good story, but in this case it's probably just misinformation. Will sort it.

Any news yet on what Vodacom has to say about rollovers? Are they considering it or are we wasting our time polling for something which they will not consider? I myself use 99% of my bandwidth most months and often go over but in principle I would like to see a rollover scheme introduced.

Even the nursery Rhyme says: .... and the little one said rollover, rollover

Always listening.....

This whole data rates & bundle stuff...
The way I see the whole lot.
Out of bundle rate is what it is to nudge people towards bundles.
Bundles mean upfront known income - which pleases the beanies.
Volume of data and cost thereof is actually not nearly an issue it is made to be.
Numbers below R200/month - are of lesser interest (to the beanies). Can be seen in the MTN reduction of data rates and even in the new Vodacom rates.

Happy hour was justified/marketed, partly, to reduce congestion. How many people will blast their unused data in principle on the last day of the month. Does this not create a form of congestion?

From the sideline, I do not think Vodacom can even dream of data roll-over while they are experiencing the "glitches" they are in Pre-Paid bundles.
Even as a CONtract subscriber - the vodacom4me balances are claimed to be up to 3 hours old. I have actually checked more than 3 hours and still not updated at times.....

If I were in the seat of data related stuff at vodacom - I would look at allowing say up to 20% of the bundle to roll over to next month at least.
The beanies will still get regular money, the network won't bet banged with those wanting to use up the last bit, and users will feel less ripped off in a way..

Just think what IT would say about this....:)

Interesting take on things:)

Perhaps something like dionb suggests could actually work. Certainly worthy of some consideration.

The question Threegee asked was if Vodacom was considering it. There is a big difference between listening and considering. Even the judge listens to the serial killer before he hands down the death sentence.

As much as I want Data Rollover yesterday, we need to be realistic here - this is not going to be implemented overnight - there are most likely a bunch of other higher priority things that Vodacom has to implement before getting to a point where Vodacom can feasibly implement Data Rollover: the systems involved appear from the outside to be rather rigid and resistant to being changed, so more flexibility needs to be introduced into those systems.

The main purpose of this thread is to voice our support for Data Rollover, as to when it *might* be implemented is another matter entirely, also bear in mind that v3g has bent the ears of the PTBs at Vodacom in our direction - not much else v3g can do at this stage to make it a reality, so the best option is to continue gathering votes & therefore support for Data Rollover - it would be nice to have at least 500 votes in favour of Data Rollover...

That's the part I don't understand. Who on this earth designs a system that's so rigid that you can't make even a small change. I don't buy it. Some people got rollover when the system didn't work right so it is possible to simply disable the automatic resetting of data bundles or to extend the expiry date.
