Yes, waiting for etai's Artic Cooling S1 v2 or Turbo Extreme. But currently I will just switch on the 8CM side fan which blows directly to VGA card. Not a big deal.

ya that is a big deal, i can see the ram on the card going. i can't imagine that ram being able to handle 100 degree's C for very long, soon artifacts will start to produce and thats bad news.
Read my reply, no big deal after I switch on my other fans which suck cool air from outside and blow directly on to the card.

If I let the fan running at auto, it will not reach 100 at all, the only reason it ran at 100 is because I changed the fan speed to manual and limited to 40% but not 100% when it's needed (like full load under Crysis).

lol, thats like the time I had just installed my E2160 and for about 10 mins it was running at 85°C [max Tjunk temp] untill I had realised that the stock cooler's pin had popped up, still it workes fine today
As you said, you basicly "locked" the fan speed, at 40% hence when it got hot it would not go any faster
So settuing it to auto seems to be the best. Or the ability to set fan speed/temp ratios like in th 96/88GT card would be nice
EDIT:
Forgot to add that the 9600GT with Stock cooling could hit 80 easily with it's stupid stock 35% fan speed

Is the fan speed set by ATI drivers? Perhaps try to re-install the drivers
I know, but want to figure out why the new profiles with automatic fan speed control not working as it should be.

mmmm Have not used Catalyst control center in a while could be guessing here...
Is it possible to remove the old profile, hence making the "Auto Speed" profile the default one?
Tried, not working.......even the original profile now is manual with 45% fan speed. Reset everything to default, still manual fan speed control......Let me restart.

A user on techpowerup tried it and temps dropped by a big margin, and fan speed was correct...

I downloaded some other Chinese BIOS before I even got the card, also supposed to decrease temp for the card. As the first batch are all reference cards from Palit, the bios should be working on every 4850 at the moment. But after I saw this manual profile fan speed which does not involved Flashing BIOS in DOS mode, I just putted this thought aside. So you guys rekon it's load shedding free time and I will be able to flash it safely??
Let me uninstalled the driver and delete these profiles, and reinstall it again....
PS, just got a sms from Losticus, he has got trouble when he tried to install the card.

Did he flash, or edit CCC profile settings?
