Is there anyone who can give more information when the HD PVR will go on sale? Which stores will have it first? I really would like to get one before the Olympic Games kick off.

What does "...the first week of August." mean exactly? Will I be able to go to Game this weekend and buy it, or would I have to wait untill next week. As far as I know the week officially starts on the Sunday! So, technically the "first week of August" must be from 3 August onwards. That is cutting it extremely close to get it up-and-running for the 8th of August, whch is next week Friday.

geez dude, dont make it so technical. First week probably means during the first week. eg from 1st to 7th. Phone Game tomorrow and hear if they have stock, they should sell it before olympics start.

I phoned MC in Cape Town and they say they will have stock on the 1st.

If you want to use your old PVR and the new PVR you are going to need a LNB that has connections for at least 6 cables (4 for your HDPVR and 2 for your SDPVR) (R1300) or you can purchase a multiswitch (R500) that will convert a dual LNB into either a 6 or 8.

www.spacetv.co.za have all the equipment you require and thier prices are quite good.

Do you think it'll be possible to do a swop? I only got the PVR bout 3 months ago, and paid like 5 grand just for it...
This new HD PVR is gonna sell for R2499, so multichoice shouldn't mind a straight swop right?

i got my pvr probably last year this time for around R2499 at game. where you buying yours for 5 grand a couple of month's back?

3 Months ago the cost of a PVR with installation was around R3000-00 from multichoice, and there was cheaper options available. The R5k just does'nt sound right. Now MC are selling them for R1999 (new), i'll give you R 1200.

I'd hold on a while... there'll be a big demand for SD PVRs soon.

PS: @Johnny - there is a misplaced comma in your sig..

under heading broadcast quality, so i think its a bargain then, if you get DSTV extraview eventually it'll be SUPER COOL!!!

lol, i should've been a bit clearer
the dish, unit and installation came to 5 grand
R5499 in fact
but thats coz we wanted all 4 tv's in the house connected to it :/

the pvr unit itself was R2999, still more expensive than the hd pvr at the moment

HDPVR available at Makro

They have a special (advertised on DSTV last week), - Pay R14,999, get a 40" Sony Bravia, Full HDTV, and a R2,000 Makro voucher (can be used to purchase the HDPVR, or for anything else instore:cool).

It doesn't appear on Makro's online catalogue as yet. The SD PVR did however drop in price to R1,999.

These guys are already installing it for customers:

I referred a friend to them the other day, and he only had nice things to say about them.

And no, I am not affiliated to them in any way, but good service has to be rewarded.
