4850 > 9800GTX+

9800GTX+ > 8800GT > 9600GT

BTW, Gecube 4850 is cheaper with landmarpc.co.za less than R2K

The 4850 might well be better than the 9600GT. But the 9600GT is already damn fast....

I got my 9600GT OC for R1600 and it comes with an Arctic cooling cooler, take2 are pricey.

i'm sure thats insulting to the HD4850, putting it in the same "class" as the 9600gt, i mean, the HD4850 eats the 9800gtx for lunch then asks for more

Hehe. I'm looking for a second XFX8800 GTX to put in my rig. Tigerwoods 2003 will run like a dream! :D

That's like buying a Cray supercomputer for checking emails.

Hmmm. You've just given me an idea. :D

I know. What's worse is I'm waiting for my new mobo, Asus Striker II Extreme, my 8GB DDR3 1600MHz, Q9450 processor and 300GB VelociRaptor are all sitting on my desk waiting. My rig is a little on the overkill side of things but it sure runs Freecell quick!

um, dude??? WTF! if you got a nice system, then good for you. let us mere mortals, admire your system via your signature, don't rub it in our face that you got an impressive system... Grrr... I've still got an ATI x1600pro and amd 3200+.

Hey guys

Simple question: which is better?

Using Take2 as an example, these two cards are pretty similar in price.

XFX nVidia GeForce 9600GT Extreme Edition - 512MB - PCi-E - R2183

OR

GeCube ATi Radeon HD4850Pro - 512MB - PCI-E - R2165

Thanks! :)

MadMailMan you bought all that stuff and decided on a Q9450 to drive it all? LOL

Either way 4850 FTW, cannot be compared to 9600GT. Heck 3850 gives a 9600GT a run for its money

Bought? Are you mad!?!? It's just components I've picked up around the office. Except the water cooler chassis, I did buy that but only cause I hate the sound of fans spinning. Now it sounds more like a fish tank. Calming. :D

What processor should I have? Especially when my current E8500 doesn't even get utilised.

I must say, for someone who is running Windows you sure are paranoid about redundancy on your OS... not that you'll lose much if Windows crashes. :D

The 4850 is a excellent card. The only reason not to buy one (and the reason I didn't) is that this card runs flippen hot. The one in our testing lab is so hot when the system is idle, that you can't even touch it. We're afraid of overclocking it and risk melting the PCI-E slot!
