HD5970 to launch 16 November 2009?

I doubt we'll see any here for a couple of weeks, I'm sure they'll get supplied to more major countries first. Not that I'd buy one, I'll wait for the price drop for the 5870. :)

that is insanity. I mean, wow...

Now that AMD has shown their cards, and it seems like it's 4 Aces, wtf will Nvidia bring out? I wonder how well their 512 core Fermi will compete?

Remember that the GTX295 has 480 core effectively (7% less), and then about 5%-15% because SLI isn't fully effective. add another hmmm, lets say 20% increase because of architecture refinement.

Thats only a +-40% increase in speed.

I dunno guys, I don't think Nvidia is going to be pulling another 8800 series on ATI. ATI looks like they have prepared well, and it looks like when they designed the HD4000 series, they were already planning the HD5000 series (I mean, think about it. They trialed 40nm, they effectively doubled the cores (from 320 to 800), they made use of DDR 5, I dunno, seems all very well planned).

Hmmm, well, lets hope Nvidia is getting hot under the collar, well let us see some proper competition between the too :)

but hardly anyone plays at 2560x1600 at the moment
but still really awesome card

Holly crap!!!! Look at the xfire stats!!!!!!

I want 2!!!!!!

Edit:

Why do this seem to always come up with ATI????
"Drivers wise we did stumble into the fact that the 5970 was a slightly slower than two 5850's in CrossfireX here and there. A little weird yes, but we do feel the drivers are not fully optimized to get the most performance out of the 5970. But we're talking 1 maybe 2% differentials and offsets here -- really marginal"

but doesn't the HD5970 have slower clocks, and memory???

Yes.
Both GPUs will run at 725MHz and the memory will run at 4GHz. The Radeon HD 5870, for comparison, runs at 850MHz GPU and 4.8GHz memory.

But the 5970 is supposed to be an awesome overclocker
