Indeed. I've been doing (limited) DR for quite a while - PCB repairs/replacements, HDA swaps, issues that don't need any specialised equipment so to speak. I've just recently forked out a huge amount of euros for proper DR equipment, so I'm equiped to tackle all areas of DR now. I see you're involved in DR as well, so you'll know what the equipment was that I got - and how much it cost

HEPA filters... excellent stuff!! You should post pics so people can see you got a clean environment otherwise they gonna think you working in a tupaware container!!

Im in the same place you have just come from, in terms of no being fully equipped. If I need to open a drive, I dont. I have a good relationship with a local data recovery company and they give me reduced rates. Works well.

Must be honest I havent dabbled with WD firmware... but I honestly lost count of the amount of Seagate drives I have brought back from the dead...

That's a good strategy to have. Some cowboys are all to quick to open up the drive and a) you've ruined it and b) it's pointless unless you know exactly where the fault lies and have the parts/expertise/patience to fix it. I assume Intratec is the company in question?

We should talk about firmware cases, I have the tools and good rates...

Are you using terminal commands to resolve Seagate FW issues?

And then to add to my misery, a colleague of mine knocked another TB that I was copying from and now that one is not working. Its the white Seagate Freeagent. The drive has slight beeping sound on it. I really hope that the drive has not gone, because it is another colleague of mines HDD.

If possible can you check that one for me also - SN 2GEVAVDX

I spoke to someone I know. Neither of those serial numbers are shown as having been imported by them. I know that there are a few other companies that have brought those drives in , but not sure who it was or if they would honor the 2 year warranty period on those drives.

No worries Gary, the latter one was bought by Take 2 and the guy emailed them and see what he can do. Really appreciate your effort and give me a new aspect on human beings. There are some decent ones out there. It's very rare that you get someone helping out a total stranger. Thank you very much for the help
