Headunit for S2000? What to get

I need a new head unit for my S2000 - it came with a tape player, and I'm using a Sony CD-shuttle that transmits over RF to the head unit, but I'm sick of the interferance, and quality - so want to upgrade the headunit.

Can anyone recommend one for around R2,000.

Also, where to get in Cape Town?

My headunit in the Hilux is a Pioneer, it cost R4,000 at autostyle about three years ago - and didn't come with RDS - I'd prefer not to go that route again.
 
Yeh - was thinking of Alphine, Kenwood or Pioneer. I don't want anything fancy - the speakers and amp are already of good quality (Sherwood amp with Infinity splits) - just want something that has back USB port so I can plug in a 100GB drive and have all my music with me.

Alphine is a classy headunit. Would fit the S2000 image.
 
LOL ja, anything other than Alpine is meant for VW's, sorry!

i'd say Alpine dude...I'm looking at a double din for my 147, as the H&R springs are SO stiff...any slight bump in the road results in scratched cd's!
 
No space for a double din in the S2000 :( wanted someone to cut a hole in my dash and install a 7" LCD - but no one I've approached in Cape Town are willing to attempt it.

I'll see if I can find a decent Alpine unit that meets my requirements, their website is crappy.
 
I prefer Sony.

As for the RDS issue, it happens with all head units, depends on where it imported from.
 
Anyone know any online stores? To lazy to drive around looking.

How's Hifi-coruption stuff?
 
The functionality of the JVC head units is fantastic. I have one that does giga mp3, usb, proper ipod, divx etc etc, even has dual output, optical output etc etc, user EQ, and its a single din unit so will fit in a s2k, it does not have a flip up screen and does not cost an arm and a leg. I can't think of any functions its missing.
 
i said its NOT flip screen, its std din unit, that has video out.
Giga mp3 means u can put 4 gigs worth of mp3s on a dvd and it will play them as opposed to the HU's that even tho they will play dvd videos, will not not mp3's off a dvd, only cd

I know - just saying a screen won't work with my car - incase someone else might suggest one.

I would get something with a front USB port. That way you just keep a couple of flashsticks around.
