Hellmann's - What junk is this?

How do you get that egg yellow so fluffy?
I just put it in one of those egg boilers.

Probably cheaper in stores

I'm on keto. This is the mayo I usually buy.

It's really good. 20210402_211841.jpg

I usually just get the cheap mayo, Nola or whatever. Everyone has been talking about Hellmann's. Great. Got a small one, Original it says, for R30. Why not?

First taste. Salt.
Texture. Puffy air like egg white.
Aftertaste. Slight mustard powdered egg with salty oil taste.

What is this salty rubbish?

Did I get expired Mayo? It says BB Sep 12 21.
There is nothing better than helmans it’s the only one I buy. The rest is horrible tasting vinegar.

Helman's Original has half the carbs and is half the price. unless you're a vegie or prefer the taste of that particular mayo, I'd switch.

Vinegar and sugar. One of the major brands has so much sugar that it's texture is basically a syrup.
I've never understood why people preferred mayo on burgers when using the traditional brands but I finally get it after having Helman's

Still wanna try make my own mayo.
With an immersion blender and the right attachment it literally takes seconds.

The 2nd time I made mayo I got a little paranoid about getting Salmonella so after making the mayo I heated it up on the stoves added sugar and onion powder.

Ended up tasting similar to the major brands. Homemade mayo otherwise tastes closer to Helmans than Cross & Blackwell and Nola.

I would like but I can't unfortunately.

Cheap seed oils are apparently trash & cause inflammation in your body.

Keto is very strict. Olive oil and Avocado oil are allowed. Soy, Canola etc isn't.

It's tough at times but the woolworths mayo is like a treat for me.

I find other cost effective ways to do keto.

Are you doing Keto as a weight loss diet or for health reasons?

My wife has ME / CFS, and a bit more complex, so she can only have some very low carb food. During treatment she is also not allowed any milk products. Even though in general milk is not that great for her. Now she also need to try scale down on meat. Doesn't leave her with much.
So it is nice to find that one thing that you see as a treat, and enjoy it.

But people who do keto to loose weight.... Must be crazy rich or just crazy.

Im doing it cos I'm insulin resistant.

I also have a skin condition.

My dermatologist says it is hormonal.

She says a low carb diet will be of benefit to me.I don't want to rely on antibiotics.

So I'm doing it for multiple reasons.

All the best to your wife. I can't completely relate but I know what it feels like to try your best to improve your health.

I envy the people that just eat what they want & live their lives.

The same thing happens to me with skincare.

I can't walk into a store and buy Loreal, Dove, Garnier, Nivea etc.

All that stuff with fragrance etc breaks me out.

I have to use Sanex, Bioderma, Cetaphil & Avene etc.

There is definitely a connection to your gut health & overall well being.

Many things are hormonal related, and people don't even know this. Sounds like you have a good doctor. Meat and Milk might also then be a big no for you.

Thanks, and also hope you some how manage and win. Antibiotics is evil, but sometimes the only option. Funny enough it creates massive hormonal issues.

How my wife has not given up on life yet, I don't know. One of the strongest people I know going through hell every day.

I never wanted to see the connection between food & my health in the past.

It's interesting that you brought up milk.

It makes sense aswell. They put so much crap into our milk. I love milk and other diary products.

I don't develop lactose intolerance symptoms but my skin goes crazy when I drink milk or eat too much cheese.

I even drink the lactose free clover /parmalet stuff but get the same reaction.

Yea, I'm slowly trying to eliminate things.

The lactose free stuff is even worse. You better off to drink very little to no milk.

Cheese, specially yellow cheese, is super bad for fungal and eczema, so makes sense.
Mushroom also.

And no, there is no replacement to milk . Oats milk (high in carbs though) and Almond Milk should not be called milk.

The dermatologist is a professor.

I'm happy to go to her after those comments.

I am kinda annoyed by Drs most of the time. I sometimes feel like a small percentage actually care to help patients.

I had to try many drs, that push accutane & antibiotics. Finally one of them tells me to try a low carb diet.

There is apparently a reputable study done on the link of insulin & acne.

A Dr on youtube referenced it. I also understand that most people aren't willing to make lifestyle changes & it's easier to pop pills.

It doesn't help that everything low carb is bloody expensive : coconut oil (R160), almond flour, coconut flour etc.

I gave up all milk products for a week & saw an improvement in my skin.

I have to stop complaining & commit.

Absolutely. I don't think it is not that they not care (except for the money hungry doctors), ironically I don't think they know any better. Have to stick to that pharmaceutical bible.

We have been from doctor to doctor to doctor to doctor. Untile my wife could not walk anymore and couldn't get out of bed anymore. The doctors were clueless. Finally found someone that could treat her. Unfortunately she was too bad to just go a natural or diet only way. So she has been on antibiotics for 3 years. Of course it messed her up badly, as per the skin and some other issues you experience. But she can live again to some degree. We only discovered recently though that hormonal issues has a big thing to do with it.

And yes. It is hell expensive. But to us it is just another medical cost. She will never live normal life again.
