Hi, I have a problem with Cell C, and I'm looking for someone who may be able to help:

I used to have 2 contracts with Cell C - a business contract for me and a top up contract for the wife. I had such a lot of trouble with billing errors etc that as soon as the business contract ended in Feb this year, I paid it up, closed it and went to Vodacom.

In March, the top up contract was suspended without warning or explanation. I contacted customer care to find out what was going on and they told me the contract was about R1500 in arrears. obviously this is impossible, as the contract only costs R100/month, was only a few months old and had been paid like clockwork every month.

Since then I have been emailing, phoning and faxing regularly, trying to get it sorted out. They do not communicate, and are most unhelpful but in spite of not being able to explain where that amount comes from, they continue to insist that I pay.

I have only now realized the seriousness of the problem because I applied for credit at Nedbank and was declined due to a Cel C account that is 8 months in arrears...!!!

Please, if any of you work at Cell C or now someone with clout at Cell C let me know. I have to get this sorted out before they blacklist me or something!
:wtf:

THis is a serious issue! The cellphone accounts hectically affect your credit rating. I normally pay my cellphone contracts using my credit card, then just forget about it. But when my card expired, I totally forgot to tell Vodacom for just one month...I then got nailed and my credit rating too. Too many things to try keep a finger on.

I'm not sure what means you have to go through to fix this, I guess you should just keep trying ALL the time. But een if CellC sort themselves out and realise their problem, I'm not sure its as easy to erase the credit rating issue.

Keep us informed.

The trouble is that you can never get to speak to anyone who can actually help you. If you go into a cell c shop and ask them something, all they do is phone customer services and hand you the phone. None of the call centre agents are equipped to diagnose the problem as all they have to go on is the record that appears in front of them which as far as they are concerned is infallible.

I have spent literally HOURS and HOURS on the phone with customer services (most of the time on hold) and its always the same thing:

"Your record is incorrect"
"Eh.. no-o, but eet ees raaait."
"It is not right"
"Eet EES raait."
"It is not right."
"The compute, she is saying eet ees raait."
"The computer is wrong"
"Eh..."

Eventually you either get cut off or transferred to another agent. Either way, the whole thing just starts again. What I need is to speak to someone who actually has the power to fix it.

I had a similar problem with Cell c many years ago ... thus I never use them anymore .... what happened to me was we took one of their specials out and it went on the credit card (root of all evils) 12 months later the R45 a month contract I had turned into a R5000 in debt ... claiming I used all this data and Phone calls when all the phone really was meant for was an emergency mobile to be left at home (it was the backup since we disconnected Telkom land-line - ironically for billing problems too!). We could not stop the debit orders (debit order = second evil) and could not close the credit card because there was an existing debit order. Many (by that I mean hundreds) of phone calls later to their voice automated service, and many faxes, e-mails you name it we did it, and it took two months to get the contract cancelled. FYI they did not reimburse us! Cell C workers are like government workers, they pitch up for half day in order to get full days salary, so phone the call center in the morning! I FEEL YOUR PAIN ... and frustration too!

Have posted on Hellopeter and tell trevor. got a call from Cell C on Friday saying that I would be getting a reconciliation of the account THAT DAY. No surprise that I still haven't got it, not that it would have helped - I don't really need ANOTHER printout of their "infallable" and incorrect records.

I have just lodged a complaint with ICASA but don't expect much, judging by their commentary through the proceedure. When you submit your complaint you get a message saying "we'll contact you if neccessary". Way to go, positive thinking. Please shoot me now.
