Help for cheapest ADSL

What's OpenWeb's connectivity like right now? I've spoken to their helpdesk and they say they're also affected by Seacom at the moment. Mweb is practically dead though, what's OpenWeb like at the moment?

First time im hearing this, is the seacom issue happening right now?

At home myself on Openweb Gold account - going like a boeing!

Seacom is down, it has a few cables cut off Egypt. It is affecting a lot of South African DSL clients, will make international browsing slower. MWeb, IS (and those who buy their bandwidth from IS) will feel the drop in speeds.

Not sure, every1 is saying many ISPs are affected by a Seacom problem.

Sigh im dying to try an OpenWeb account but MrBEEP isnt coming on...:(

I'll gladly grab the second half of that Silver account if you unable to get a friend to pay for it, just drop me a pm if you don't come right ;)

Nice, and thanks.. Seacom's still down - "hours" to re-route apparently. Mweb is dead as a doornail since 8.30 this morning. have already signed up for an Openweb silver 2mb account....

And the question dawns again... I'm currently with Mweb and Seacom is getting to me.

I looking for a reliable ISP. 2mb Uncapped, No throttling, the ability to download ~100gigs p/m, good constant speeds. I download torrents, use Youtube and surfing - in this order.

My pocket can only afford R500 at most including ADSL line rental.

I've done my research, just need feedback from users of the following ISPs:
  • Axxess
    2mb Uncapped, Semi shaped =>R499
  • Web Africa
    2mb Uncapped, Semi shaped =>R489
  • Openweb
    2mb Uncapped (Special, buy 1 get 1 free - share with a friend), => (R329/2 + R299) => 464

Ex - Wazzup.net (too much throttling), Afrihost (MTN problems).

Thanks for the help in advance.

Try out the free ADSL accounts from Axxess & WebAfrica first:

Actually testing out the Axxess account, but its a 3gig account not sure if an uncapped account will fair this well.

I am in the same boat, SEACOM, MWEB.... blah blah blah... so very interested.

Currently on Axxess uncapped on pro-rata. Question, if you have concern with MTN, is Axxess not on same network?
My traceroutes shows a lot of MTN...

So its come down to Axxess and WebAfrica.

I'm keen on Axxess but I've seen posts from DJ and he isn't happy. Any thoughts people?

rather go with telkom, their service lately rocks. they got an android app to report faults. or you can do it on the internet. or via sms. and they log faults instantly.

openweb is not a very nice company. no matter whats wrong, its always your router or telkoms fault. they're rude and nasty. they can do with a few customer relation courses as their customer relations sukcs big time. just read the way they reply to their customers. its awful.

they might have the best internet but i'll rather go with a company thats not always blaming someone else for their faults and a little friendlier...

I guess it comes back to the question of service or price, are u with telkom mika?
