Help i lost my password

guys my sister forgot her password now she wants to remove it her laptop has the finger print scanner thing,can she use that and how?

Go into safemode onto the computer and type in administrator as the username and (should) a blank password. This might work. Then you can remove the password.

The finger print thingy u have to set up first before u can use it. Sorry can't help with the password thingy.

Gf just phone with the same issue, in safe mode you still need to type in the password first

nope.

You need erd commander 2007 - you boot using a cd and can unlock/reset password. I've used it a few times - works great on 2000/2003/xp
You can also boot using linux and do the same trick. Check out the first link.

isn't Project X/kiepie referring to the bios password? with acer laptops i know that when you enable fingerprint scanning, it enables pre-boot authentication and sets a specified password you type in as the bios password - so this is way before you get to windows.

i know you can reset bios settings by removing the MB battery on a desktop machine - but don't know if you can reset the bios password, or even how you'd do it on a notebook...
