I am in the market for a new laptop, but since my requirements are really only to do e-mail, Internet and some Word processing on the road, I figure a Netbook is the way forward.

What is important to me is battery life, instant on features, built-in 3G/HSDPA and light weight. I don't mind the screen size, and find 10" ample for what I need to do. Frankly, smaller is better. Oh, and I really don't want to spend more than R5k at this point.

So far I've looked at the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2, and the Compaq Mini110c. I've never owned a Lenovo, and really don't know much about the brand. I have, however, owned a Compaq back in the days when Compaq was still Compaq, not HP, and in those days I was most impressed by the device.

Does anybody have experience of either of these two machines? And also, is there a better option for the money that I haven't seen yet?

You should also consider the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and the Acer Aspire One.

I would say get an MSI Wind for about R3500 it's great - they're at prophecy and a few other places. If you wanna spend closer to R5k try to get something with an 11-12" screen, like an HP 311.

Definitely for the MSI Wind. Check out www.insanelywind.com for more amazingness...

As I said in the other thread, you can overclock by 24% easily and without voiding your warranty in the bios.

You can also install OSX as I have done and run a near perfect hackbook!
