Super-reasonable but surprisingly decent red - Whalehaven. Was encouraged to try their range and.. wow..

If you can still find stock - mid-range but bloody good - Major's Hill - seriously. Do your taste buds a favour.

Avoid the big brand names. They're typically bland/unsinspired crud aimed at the retail alky market.

Average prices have increased though. Was at two places in Stellenbosch the other day that are known for their bargain bins. Cheapest red at both places was R50 (for stuff that you would not drink). A year ago it was around R40. And 90% of it was white wine. Probably trying to get rid of the stuff from early 2020. From R32 a bottle. But heartburn stuff :)

Also when I was there the other day they were selling their Chardonnay at R67.00 a bottle at the tasting room.

Love Neethlingshof. Got married there to :)

All seriously good.
