Help me choose wines

To the people who responded with brilliant suggestions when I originally started this thread:

Do your recommendations still hold up, or are there new and better red wines on the market that you can recommend?

Thank you very much.

Some really bad advice here

Red
Allesverloren - Cabernet Sauvignon
Diemersfontein - Shiraz
Brampton - Cabernet Sauvignon

White
Springfield - Life From Stone
Durbanville Hills Rhinofields Chardonnay

Now what's wrong with a 2,5 ltr bottle of Paarl Perle or Lieberstein? Same as Tassies. My student days nostalgia.

I had Buitenverwachting Meifort the other day, it was quite nice.

Also have a second question - do any of you order from a wine club or directly from an estate? Does it work out cheaper or not really? Some of the wine clubs seemingly have a limited selection and I cannot find all my faves.

Blaawuklippen Zinfandel Red

Are you referring to this one?

Wife does the wine club and really enjoys it. Guess half the fun is getting some larney wines we would not other wise consider. They have various pricing tiers. I don’t track the costs but she says it’s cheaper than in the bottle stores also get some short run specialities on occasion. Wade Bales is the club she is in. Started at R500 for 6 bottles for a few months then moved up to R900 for 6 package.

If you after good wine at a cost saving not caring about getting short run or speciality wines I highly recommend Tamasa wines. Need to buy in boxes of 6 I believe though.

That's the one

I have a smallish function to arrange. The request is for 10 bottles red wine and 8 bottles white. Not plonk, but not breaking the bank either.

If there are any connoisseurs here, what would you recommend? I heard good things about De Grendel, Warwick Estate and Eagle's Nest.
I'm a little late to the party, but what sort of function is it? Sit-down meal or just finger snacks? And if so, what's on the menu? And how will it be served-- straight from the bottle or decanters?
