Hi,my E272 modem is starting to give me trouble,it won't pick up a network signal & just does the green flashing deal until i run/reinstall firmware then it will work again.
I did that once yesterday & now have had to do it again today.

There is 3G signal present as i check that with my ph 1st.
Using Win7 on notebook, tryed differant USB port with same result.
Differant sim- same result.
Using Hauwei's Mobile Partner for software & latest firmware version off Vodacom's site.

Can i format deeper than a firmware overwrite at all or is my E272 heading to the graveyard??
Any other ideas for a fix?

Is it still under warranty , my Vodacare can help

PM received and responded with system print out of warranty status. Unit is no longer within warranty. In my personal experience...it will work out cheaper just to buy a new unit.

Many thanks!
Will give Vodacare a call & see if they offer any solutions.
Been a good modem up till now.

Only other thing worth doing is testing it on another machine. You using 32 or 64bit Windows 7? There was a fix from Huawei for 64bit windows, check the sticky. I know ginggs also found an updated firmware that was newer than what is on the Vodacom site.

Is only on a 32bit Win7 but will check the sticky as i haven't ruled out windows having something to do with the problem

I've seen this behaviour before. Modem would not find a 3G network. Re-flashing the firmware helps, and it finds a 3G network. But after a few uses, it goes back to only being able to find a 2G network. Not exactly sure what causes this. Just faulty hardware I suppose.

Yep...reflashing firmware only worked a few more times & then stopped fixing the problem.....I could hear it connecting & disconnecting randomly with the PC ,tried a differant cable & USB port with same results....turned off PC managing power to USB ports....same...... Finally it wouldn't install the data interface driver & i have now surrendered to a R350 K3565z till CellC hits town
