Hi Guys,

Apologies if my dilemna sounds stupid....

I am currently on Vodacom Talk 130. The contract is due for upgrade.
I want a nice phone something like Samsung Omnia, Blackberry Storm or a nice HTC.
I find that the Samsung is free on other networks but Vodacom wants me to pay 1600 extra for the phone.

Can anyone advise me, where to go and who have decent offers for the phones i want or a suitable alternative.

I am really terrible negotiating so I never find good deals myself.

Go to MTN, choose any Anytime package and you'll save at least R1000 (usually more) than if you got it on Vodacom. And do not go through Autopage or Nashua. Best thing to do is hit a major mall and collect the sales papaers from every store and compare. Right now MTN have the best deals on whatever you want.

agreed. i'm with autopage and waiting for a nokia 5800, so far all they can tell me is they have "no ETA on that handset" whereas a colleague of mine is collecting his nokia 5800 later today directly from a vodashop as he is with vodacom direct.

as to the networks.. if you stick with vodacom you gonna get better customer service, but pay your butt off for the handset, whereas with mtn its the other way around.. you cant really win.

That is a myth I have experienced the worst service in my entire life from Vodacom and will never go back after the way in which they destroyed my only slightly malfunctioning phone and then told me its my problem. Not that MTN customer service is stellar the reality is they're exactly the same. You don't get anything extra for being on Vodacom except complete network failure on a regular basis.

My wife had to go through HelloPeter in order to get her Samsung F480 that she was originally told would take 7-10 working days.
After 5 weeks she got snotty with them and all of a sudden she could pick one up the next day... Bloody useless.

Avoid Vodacom. They have disgustingly overpriced phones compared to MTN and thinking back to my years with them I can't remember anything better with vodacom than what MTN has to offer.
