The man attacking a goat in the video is still unknown, but the SPCA is hoping with the help of SunReaders he will soon be found and be made to pay for his crime.

In the video, which surfaced about a week ago, a Siswati-speaking man is asking the goat why he’s off his food.

“What about the mealies you’re eating? I want to beat you, hear me? Don’t you hear me? I will klap your breasts, your anus. I want to beat you,” said the man.

He slapped, kicked and threw the animal on the ground.

The SPCA’s Shan Paton said: “We are asking for help from the community to identify the man in the footage.

“This is extreme animal abuse punishable by law. We have to intervene.”

Paton said her staff has tried to trace the animal and the abuser but without success.

“We are asking the Mpumalanga community to help us.” Call the Mbombela SPCA on 013 753 3582.

GOAT BASHER GETS A WARNING

THE MAN who brutally abused a goat for eating his mealies has been released on warning . . . for now!

The 26-year-old accused was not asked to plead to a charge of animal cruelty when he appeared at the Tonga Magistrates Court in Mbombela, Mpumalanga yesterday.

He was ordered to appear in court again on 20 November. The man was caught after SunReaders tipped off the newspaper about his whereabouts.

When the People’s Paper and teams from Woodrock and Soweto animal rescue centres got to his home in Mzinti near Malalane on Tuesday, he ran away but police later arrested him.

His wife hurled insults at the officials. She said her husband had every right to punish the goat because it had eaten their plants.

The goat’s owner, Simon Ndlovu, said the abuse had led to the death of the goat.

“I tried to talk to this man but he came back and beat another goat but we managed to save it.” Daily Sun spoke to the man on the phone before his arrest.

He said: “I was very angry. That goat ate my vegetables and maize meal. “I thought it was a lesson.”

Chief inspector Jerry Selwane of Soweto Animal Rights Organisation said the man would face charges of cruelty to animals.

What this idiot did is no way different to the suffering that millions of animals go through every day at slaughterhouses all over the country. It's strange that most people are outraged, very rightly, about an incident like this but don't even think twice about where their supermarket meat comes from or how it got there.

I didn't click the link because I didn't really want to see someone murdering something but, this post made me want to see it just to see if it was anything like a nail gun to the brain. No vid but a pic of some ******* trying to throttle the poor animal or break it's neck or something barbaric.

If you think most slaughterhouses employ similar methods you may be a bit of an idiot.

You said it better than I can. There's a huge difference between what happens at a slaughterhouse and abusing an animal like this guy did.

what difference is that? :p
the one lives? :p

Slaughterhouse = humane and instant death
Animal Abuse = torture and constant pain

This is not rocket science.

there are very little "humane" things in a slaughterhouse, i can link you to videos that show you the terror animals go thru as they are herded into a production line and can smell the other dead animals :p
