HELP Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)

I took delivery of a new ASUS tis week with the OS installed.
When shutting it goes to MS updates 1 of 24.
I let it run for 4 hours and it never got past Item 3.
I have ADSL 384 with 3GB cap. Anyone know if there is a fix for this?

Shut down the machine with the current updates, get into safe mode(pressing F8 before the start up of Windows) and do a System Restore before the installed updates. After the System Restore is done try and redo the updating and see if it helps.
