Good Morning friends,

I am looking to get a customer of ours the following modem / router

TP-Link W8960N problem is i cannot figure out how far roughly this thing can transmit.

Is there a standard method one can use to get distance. I do understand that walls etc can interefere but how does one go about selling a product without knowing these sort of things :o

Appreciate any feedback.

Regards,

Yuu

How long is a piece of string?

There is no sure way to know at what distance a device will work unless you do a site survey, way to many variables involved.

Thanks Ponder, but i doubt i can get a unit in just for testing. Perhaps this may help me, what other ADSL Wireless Modem routers out there have a good range. R800-R900 Retail budget please.

Wireless Features
Complies with IEEE802.11n, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE802.11b
11n: Up to 300Mbps(dynamic)
Provides WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK authentication
Provides 64/128bit WEP encryption security and wireless LAN ACL (Access Control List)
Max wireless transmit power: 19dbm
Antenna power: 3dbi
Frequency Range:2.4~2.4835GHz

Remember wifi or whatever wireless you'll be using is two way communication, so remember that the other device or laptop also needs a directional antenna or decent power to communicate back.

It seems to be suitable for OFFICE and residential only...
Large concrete surfaces will effect the signal and quality.
Some times glass also effects frequencies.
So, if possible, try to install with best and clear line-of-sight.
