So I recently got fibre in my area and immediately signed with an ISP and after installation I was provided with a free router - a TP-Link Archer C20. Up until then I had been using a Zyxel AMG1302-t11c for my ADSL, which I was aware can be used for Fibre as well, however due to not having dual-bands and also I figured a newer router would have a more up-to-date wireless standard, I opted for the included TP-Link.

Almost immediately after set up though I noticed weaker performance with regards to the 2.4Ghz wireless range compared to the Zyxel. I found this quiet odd and connected the Zyxel again and sure enough it fared much better - by a good 8 - 10 meters I'd say.
I also found that my connection was more 'stable' with the Zyxel, whereas with the other my mobile devices would just cut out the connection even in range.

My question is - what could be causing this? Am I missing something when it comes to Fibre router setups?

In the worst case I could just stick with the Zyxel or buy another router - but would like to get some input first.
