Help with SABnzbb failed downloads

As name suggests I would like to learn how to repair failed downloads in SABnzbd.Recently I am getting few failed repairs in SABnzbd.I use Astraweb as my news server and also has newsdemon as a back up which is not enabled but only used manually to repair.But trying quickpar gives me missing articles and says repair failed and quickpar says 5 complete files and say 50+ damaged files.What I want is not to download the entire articles again since these may be large files +/- 10Gb.How can i just download missing pieces alone and repair the damaged files.If I use repair function with SABnzbd it only downloads 1 files and wont try to fix all damaged files and again sfv verification will fail,and report that 44 blocks missing something like that.
But when I giganews i can get same files without problems.but it has to be downloaded from scratch.If some body knows a way to repair failed files pls let me know.
NB:quickpar is enabled for auto repair

Since all the news servers are mirrors of each other, you should not have to re-download the whole lot to get the missing pieces from giganews.
The fact that you do, tells me its a different post.

I use astraweb extensively and the only time I get incomplete files is if I use an nzb from a dodgy source. Where are you getting your nzb's from?

But when i manually re download from same nzb using giganews i get complete files in Quickpar.Why?

Those are two different releases, one is by MAGICAL, and the other by HALCYON.

Besides that, in my experience nzb.su is dodge. I used to get large amounts of incomplete's from them.

I would suggest using newzbin, www.newzbin2.es, there is a nominal fee (imo) but the functionality is worth it. You just add all the stuff you want into a favourites list and it feeds the list directly to sabnzdb.
And always read the comments. someone will have said if its bad.

Edit: I see you said the same nzb.. if so then thats pretty weird..

Try moving your downloaded files to another folder, then restart the download, but go into the nzb and only select the par2 files to download. Then add the par2 files to the folder you moved the main files to, and use quickpar to repair.
 
I am so pleased to see this post, as I am having the very same issues.

I use NZBS.org as my primary source for finding files, and on files a few hundred days old, have been having the same issue. Today I think 6 + programs of American Pickers all had errors. SABnzbs is the program I use too as generally it is great, and I never used to have any issues until a few weeks ago, and now seems to be getting worse.

Astraweb is my primary source, but am also linked to WA and MWeb news servers.

Thanks for the above - am going to look through it properly and see if this sorts me out. My problem is I am not the most technical :(
 
I had similar problems a while back also on Astraweb. I cancelled my Astra account and moved to Newsdemon with a Blocknews backup and haven't had issues since.
 
Also helps to check the forum of your nzb provider to see if others have been having similar problems.
 
just installed windows 8 rc, when i start up my pc sickbeard automatically starts in internet explorer, not chrome which is my default browser, how do i fix this?
 
I never enable sick beard to start on windows start up then manually run it it chrome

2 solutions here

Navigate to your startup folder and remove the shortcut for SAB OR reinstall and before clicking furiously next lol, look for the option that says start my browser during the wizard process and untick it :p

I have mine setup as a windows service as it runs 99% of the time.

as to the OP, give another NZB site a go, try binsearch.info, free and works. Also NZBindex.nl you can add too :)

If possible , can OP also paste error message associated with those failed downloads, you can find this in the LOG tab or under the failed download.

Not for SAB. It doesnt use the browser.

You shouldnt get that many damaged files. You sure you dont have a line problem and none of the files are downloading completely.

I've been using sab and Astraweb for years and have never had any issues. You are on the latest version of sab aren't you?

What does your sab logs say?

I see yesterday there was an update so will do later today

This is one line in the log : 2012-06-13 16:58:22,625 ERROR: Loading C:\Users\SimonHome\Documents\Downloads\incomplete\American.Pickers.S03E07.720p.HDTV.x264-MOMENTUM\__ADMIN__\SABnzbd_article_scas7g failed

I see there is a file with hundreds of entries in it - pretty much Greek to me :(

In the history section, as it is trying to repair the DL it says :Repair failed, not enough repair blocks (16 short)" The numbers of blocks changes each episode that fails

Thanks for your help in getting this sorted.

I am thinking of trying one of the other sources mentioned and downloading a program from there - one that has failed for me before

Version 0.70 stable released a day or two ago fixes this. Numerous people had the problem (check their blog as well), me included and with version 0.7.0 everything seems to be OK.

In the configuration screen under General, unstick "Launch Browser" that will stop it from opening any browser when you restart, although it will still startup normally.
