Hi ,I have a free xsusenet subscription 25gb 1mb speed.Everything was working perfectly last month ,using grabit to download .Came back this month from from a trip abroad. And it keeps telling me "482 Too many connections for your user (nnntp switch).

As I am a noob I would like to know if there is anything that I can do ,Because last month it was flying at full linespeed 24/7

It will download group lists ,and then goes dead afterwards not a single kb.

Regards

Hi

Xsusenet recently updated their retention policy. Free subscribers get 10days retention .
meaning u won't be allowed to download anything older than 10 days

Hope it helps

It is only $10 for a premium unlimited subscription with 1200days +- retention.

Also block accounts available.

Search for Astraweb or Newsdemon to see their options.

Alternatively if you don't want to spend so much, if you on SAiX (Ti) then you can use their server or MWEB's and lastly internet Solution's.

Ti

news.saix.net (2 connections max just check) Port 119

MWEB

news.mweb.co.za (2?) Port 119

iS

news.is.co.za (4?) Port 119

:)

Thanks Yuu,will have to start weighing my options now.

For someone who is using a little but per month I can suggest 1000GB block account from astraweb for $50, if you're using less than 200 or in some cases 100GB per month then this turns out well! I just got myself one, I might add another one next month just to build up a nice block account with 2TB!

Hi ,just to confirm ,I downloaded a 3day old nzb and it is flying. So that means Rafdotcom is 100% correct.

But thanks for all the responses guys and girls (if any)

Much Appreciated

Just added a 1TB from astraweb as well, the 180GB got finished

Hi guys, can anybody please advise me where I can get episodes in xvid format nzb's,I use nzbmatrix and nzbs'r'us
But they only have x264 and I am getting fed up with errors I get from that format.
Thanks

Well firstly, I also get x264 from NZBMatrix, but there is nothing wrong with them, so I suspect the problem is with your PC.
Secondly, most of the scene release groups are all switching to x264 because it is a better more compact encoder.
And then Thirdly, there are still a few XviDs being released there, you just have to search for them.
For now there seems to be an alternate XviD version for just about everything.

You can try and use http://www.binsearch.info/ to find an alternate version.

Could someone on Afrihost (even better if its on a 4mb uncapped line) tell me what speeds they are getting on astraweb? Interested in getting an account because the IS news server is dead slow

I get between 400 and 420 kbps with my Afrihost Capped Account and my 4mbps ADSL line.
I have a 72 Gb capped account.

Thanks for the response Gary, I watch on my BR player and it seems every second episode is out of sync or got random freezes. While with xvid it works every time. And I only get xvid on torrent sites, which is not working out for me.

Can someone tell me whether the newsserver is better than downstorm, or what the advantages are.
Had downstorm in the past and was rather happy with it.

Thanks

Get a proper media player. I would recommend either a Mede8er or WD TV Live. If it doesn't play on these then there is something wrong with your file.

Point taken, might get a router with streaming capabilities. That is on my todo list. Thanks

Or first see if there is a firmware update available for your BR player.
