I need help with querying my vodacom bill...

To cut a long story short I lost my phone and had my number barred, when I got a new sim card and thats where my problems started... I now have a R4500 bill for Dec (normally R450 - R550) which is made up mostly of numbers I do not recognise. During this period I had endless hassels with my line, people phoneing me and getting through to someone else, going straght to voicemail while my phone was on, endless network busy when I tried to make a call. I called one of the numbers I apperently called 198 times and they have never recieved a call from me before. Vodcom says the calls where made from my sim and thus I am liable.

The call centre is hopeless, and help as to how I could escalate this would really be appreciated

Thanks in advance for any help

How long did you take before you barred your number after you lost your phone?

If you did it immediately - like, it was stolen at 9, barred at 10.
Calls after 10 you can blame on Vodacom - simply because if they barred it, they didn't do it properly.

It's not your fault then!

However, whatever you can do it about it, I don't know but if you daring enough, you could involve lawyers AND WIN! :)

PM me all the details (as much as possible) using the template in my sig.

Some feedback,

It's indeed a TWIN-CALL issue. There are two SIMs on this account and the second SIM made nearly 2000 calls over the last 2 months. And in a different area to where you were.

When you did your SIM swap, what happened to the second SIM? Clearly it got 'reallocated' by someone.

Thanks for the help, it seems that its getting sorted... that indeed someone did get hold of my old twin sim card which was deactivated 3 years ago... sneeky rats!

Thanks V3G you are a legend

What is the out come?

This is a pure case of fraud and wil be handled as such.

- HiltM will get a credit for the calls made from his TwinSim.

- Two of the 'boys' are on their over to the place where we believe the Twinsim is and they both seem very proud of their new baseball bats.

Good to hear that.

So the fraudster thought they'd be able to get away without anybody noticing? Whahahahaha :D A big surprise is coming :D

This is a good case as a reminder to be diligent with things like twinsims. In this specific case HiltM was not at fault, but I (for one) have no idea where mine is.....wonder how many other people got them and one point and have no idea where they are?

The symptoms HiltM described should be a clear indication as well. The funny dropped calls (caused the the second SIM being turned on), friends that phone him and get to someone else, etc.

Is there more information regarding this twinsims? Is it two sims with the exact same number?

Basically you get a second SIM with it's own number on the same account. But they're linked so that it does not matter which number you call, the active SIM will ring. Only one SIM can be active (the last one to connect to the network).

This is quite useful when you have a car kit or a second phone used for specific purposes (say an old one you carry when cycling). You turn of the phone you don't want to use and turn the other one on and people can still call you on your normal number and get to you. But when you make a call from the TWIN-SIM, they'll see that number.

Call your local Vodashop to get it.

Thanks for explaining. :)

V3G, are you guys able to track the fraudsters? Tracking people through their number sounds so cool and hi-tech :p.

vodacom3g - very cool! epecially the credit! :)

Big thanks

I dont think we realise what an asset it is to have a guy like V3g on the forums... it really makes this thing work, and work well.

Once again thanks V3g - my trust in Vodacom has been restored

In this specific case the idiot left a trail that even the CIA could follow. Can't give the details at this time. But they're often well versed in how the systems works and hide their tracks quite well.

Guess that's one aim of RICA that makes sense.
