Hermanus riots

People want to riot but don't want to face the consequences. Whilst husbands and sons are in jail the other family members probably realize that nobody is there to earn a living and give them money. Plus they also have to pay bail.

Well it's not like they would be able to spend the money anyways, they burned down all their shops. It's the African't way.

The community of Zwelihle are being intimidated into striking until the arrested protesters are released. Yesterday the taxi rank was invaded and no one was allowed to travel to work, they had to march to the court to protest and demand the release of those detained last week.

Thankfully after court was adjourned, the protesters returned to Zwe peacefully and the plan is to return tomorrow with a march through town to the court. People are again not allowed to go to work and I'd imagine kids will not be going to school again. Most, including my own, left early yesterday as the situation intensified and the march started.

When are the affected people going to organize a counter march?

Looks like its a case of blaming it on the bunny.

"Eish, the strike made me not come to work...eish!

There’s a strike and march planned on Monday in Hermanus. Business owners are getting seriously pissed off and the talk is about standing up to this.

Notice from the Zwelihle leadership. NOTICE
On Monday it's a total shut down, no businesses will be operating in Zwelihle and people advised not to risk and go to work.
We will be marching to Overstrand Municipality and demand that people be placed in Schulphoek as soon as yesterday. Our plans is to move to the new plots in the next coming week and by weekend, people enjoy their homes.

Pfft! Not fooling me you tard.

The only reason you guys want to "march" is to burn, loot, intimidate and destroy property. After you have a cold beer and talk about how very productive you guys were in decolonizing South-Africa!

It is time to grow up and stop demanding! The World don't owe you shyt!

'Everything went wrong' - tensions over land resurface in Hermanus

Frustrated residents in Zwelihle, Hermanus were preparing to march to the municipality on Wednesday after the fragile truce over the handover of land collapsed.

"We are going to the municipality to hand in a memorandum," said community leader Sicelo Gxamesi.

He said the community was concerned that some people were trying to gain traction for their political views on the back of their push for land.

A scheduled meeting between Overstrand Municipality councillors, community representatives and MEC for Human Settlements Bonginkosi Madikizela collapsed on Tuesday night, after a tour of the proposed sites offered to landless residents.

Madikizela's spokesperson Ntomboxolo Makoba-Somdaka said the latest developments were extremely disappointing, given the work everybody had put in to identify available land.

"We worked so hard from our side," said Makoba-Somdaka.

The delegation had travelled in Toyota Quantums in convoy around Hermanus to examine proposed sites, but when they got back to the municipality for a meeting, "everything went wrong".

"We had great plans," she said.

ANC member of the provincial legislature Cameron Dugmore posted a statement to say that he had been deployed by the party to assist at Tuesday night's meeting.

"Just as the meeting was about to start, a member of the community committee objected to the presence of another community member," Dugmore stated in a Facebook update.

I have often thought about a cellphone car bomb being parked in advance where you know a march or riot will take place. That will surely put a dent a future plans to march.

Been harping on with that comment for years dieburger.com back when it still had it's owwn built in commenting system.
