Can anyone give me advise? What's the best internet package to get for home use, to download videos and all that stuff? Who is the best supplier with good prices? I'm based in East Rand Jo'burg.

Is this supposed to be funny, I read recently that Telkom were testing 20mbps speeds, hang, could I please get my 10mbps speeds that were rolled out a while back and I still do not have ?

+1; most are not getting it though.

I stand corrected, but I think you're speed profile is set by Telkom... like me, you're modem is syncing at the maximum set by telkom, not the the maximum the line can sustain. Try running DMT which will give an indication of the maximum speed you're line can sustain (mine's 10880kbps).

Im sorry, know this has prolly be asked a million times but there are loads of threads when i did a search...how do you know if you qualify for the upgrade...we are on a 4mg line and would LOVE to be bumped too??

Your SNR looks rather low. Any faster speeds, could be risky, as it 'may' make your line very unstable.

More than a year later 10Mb line is still not offered on my exchange according to Telkom support line. 021554
Most concerning is a rumor or that exchanges with self install option are not going to be included in this upgrade.

Wtf

@emptyshadow, it has been mentioned before, as your speed increases so does the noise on the line.

If you want your latency back, you have to ask Telkom to lower your profile to say 8MB or thereabouts to see the same performance in gaming with an increase in speed. :)

Edit: how could i forget, you lucky SOB :p

Thank Yuu :)

I will test it this weekend to see how my line acts.
If not satisfied Il try it on 8mbit from monday.

Time will tell :)
