Hi all,

Telkom activated my 10 meg uncapped fibre package today and I was excited to experience lower latency but have been very disappointed.

I would like to get some feedback on others experiences and recommendations with latency on Overwatch or CS:GO. My average ms playing Overwatch was around 180-190 ms and 30-50 ms playing CS:GO with my Afrihost 8 meg uncapped DSL line.
Currently on my Telkom 10 meg uncapped fibre, I am getting a 200-220 ms on Overwatch and around 80 ms on CS:GO.

I have seen Overwatch played with 140 ms in SA and am looking for recommendations or a possible reason with to why I am not even getting a slightly better latency when testing CS:go on local servers. All I can think of is OpenServe having an issue but they have said there is nothing wrong on there end.

Thanking in advance

Who is your ISP? And do speedtests to local servers.

I am using Telkom data with Openserve Fibre that being my only option for fibre in my area. The local speed tests to local are all well below 20 ms.

I have changed over to my DSL connection and getting 185 ms currently on OW.

Telkom (Telkom Internet) is your problem, you could
have used ANY ISP that runs on OpenServe (Vox, Afrihost, Axxess, Crystal Web, Web Africa) for data. I would grab some free accounts from from the mentioned ISPs and run tests on them to rule out your line.

Will give that a try thanks.
I went with Telkom because of there 10 meg uncapped special @ R799 and thought I would give it a try as it is only month to month agreement

Telkom seems to be having some issues with gaming/latency lately. Only way to get around it till it's fixed is to use another ISP

Due to my ongoing fibre speed issues with Axxess ISP I've also been looking for a provider on the OpenServe network with proper international pings and stable speeds.

I approached Crystal Web ISP, but they informed me that they don't provide "test" accounts for fibre, which is rather unfortunate :(

If it's on OpenServe, the normal 1GB DSL trial account will work.
