Higher speeds, better prices and larger usage allowances from Sentech

Ha! look, they are trying to lock the stable door... the horse is now living with the competition, the stable has burnt down, the stablehands have all gone where there they dont have to pay to work at the stables and the few people who are chained to the derelict stable are just waiting to run as soon as their contract ends.And now Sentech wants to erect a new stable. Sorry Sentech after the way you treated your ex subscribers it is doubtful whether anybody will ever believe anything you say, you know that story about how bad service comes along and bites you? CHOMP!!!!
 
Too Little, Too Late - or has that been said already.

Here's an interesting little comparison to iBurst Australia (Tel Pacific's offering)
IBurst Modem AU$ 199 = R 1115
& activation AU$ 99 = R 555
1,000 kps with 1 Gig Cap (3 month contract) AU$ 69 = R 387 per month
Data rate per meg: 12c (AU) = 67 c (ZAR)

We can work under the assumption that within the next 2 years this is what iBurst South Africa will be offering.

So for Sentech to be competitive in the future they'll need to be able to beat this offering.

The biggest point is that they have to bring the price of their modems down. A lot of people already have iBurst modems and so are locked in to iBurst.

Knowing Sentech, when some poor victim doesn't get anywhere close to the speeds they claim complains, they will tell him, that he needs to be right next to a tower, at 3AM, when no one else is online, and he's switched all his other electrical appliances off, has made a hole in the wall (to remove interference from the carbon in the bricks), and cut down all the trees (to prevent the water in the trees from blocking the signal).

They will probably also halve the bandwith allowed to 5Gb for only a 300% increase in price, and then boast to the world how they are helping to bridge the digital divide..................
 
Funny thing about this new offering... They close down all classic packages that were not viable and are now going to offer these packages... are they viable now or was the whole "not viable" excuse just a way to get rid of people who actually used what the payed for on a monthly basis. I think Sentech is guilty of a bit of a lie....

Decent service from where I am. Even with just one signal bar. It has improved immensely. It is a bit pricey but the extra data allocation sounds promising.

What and how much of it have you been smoking? This article is from December 2006 :eek:
AFAIK there is nothing new from Sentech in the pipeline
