Hiring a PA at minimum wage?

There is someone on this forum who has been unemployed for some time. I forgot his name.
 
Think it also depends where you're at and circumstances of the person.

You can argue that offering min wage means a job exists, but it also means those in that job career are going to have their salary prospects diminished if lots do this.

Why where you're at, min wage outside a larger city can probably be livable, but within a city not really unless they're basically living in a township.

If student you're still doing a full time job for them, but can argue that your case is not so complex so they can study at the same time. They're probably in a city then though, so living costs.

I'd rather do higher than average hourly and part time, flexi if possible, but this all depends on what being a PA entails, it's a very broad position as it's whatever the employer decides.

Why not just do the admin yourself if you can’t afford help without feeling pain?
 
Could be advantageous to an elderly person that is maybe too old to get work but could supplement their pension. Aswel as a person which has just left school and the experience gained could open the door to other job opportunities down the line.

The internship I did once finishing my studies made all the difference needed to open doors for me even If the pay just paid for my fuel to drive to work. But at that time I was living at home.

Not really. Your legal status in the country and being defined as an employee in terms of the LRA are two separate issues. The CCMA can still rule on matters where the employee is undocumented.

I'm still in the research stage of this idea, I literally posted this thread minutes after having the idea. If I do go ahead with this idea I'm only going to start looking for somebody in Feb and won't be members of this site. For obvious reasons
 
3Gee or Saturnz will do it for less and they work remotely (Gaza tunnels currently)

who works for like R5,000pm these days??? I was earning that when I left school in the 90's ffs!
and this is a FULL TIME 8 HOUR A DAY JOB, and you want to pay them literally less than a gardener or a maid

A lot of people do. You'd be surprised what a lot of hospitality workers in this country earn. I know a lot of guys working for security companies and in restaurants making peanuts. Times are a hard for a lot of people.

Most of the Uber drivers in my area are barely making more than 2K a week.

It would be a 8-10 hour/week job the majority of the time in practice. The thing is I would want a fixed cost if I had to something like this.

Are you prepared to pay overtime?
Those hours suggest overtime.
You will also have to register for Compensation fund on top of the UIF.

Speaking of Zimbabweans, not all of them are as competent as people think. I know it is a universal concept to think your own citizens are lazy and incompetent, South Africans in America or Britain will always work twice as hard compared to Americans or the British in almost all the cases. That is because they are in a foreign country and the job is all they have for survival in that country. It is human nature. If you do thorough search, you will find a competent South African. No, I am not saying hire a South African, it is your choice.

Like someone pointed out, an undocumented person has exactly the same rights as any citizen when it comes to employment law. You cannot do as you please.
