Hiring a PA at minimum wage?

Somebody just to do the admin and other stuff I procrastinate on, mostly remote because I work from home and am anti-social, maybe get a student give them a cheap smartphone, a old laptop and a data sim.

What you guys think?
(minimum wage is all I can afford without feeling some pain)

If all you can afford is minimum wage, then you can’t really afford to be hiring anyone right now. Maybe a student doing it as a paid “internship” or something like that. But expecting anyone with even moderate living expenses to actually work for less than R6k a month, is not okay.

Just remember that when you're employing somebody that comes with its own admin. You will have to register them for UIF and will also have to ensure they get appropriate leave/sick days, etc. You also cannot just fire them willy-nilly unless you want to deal with CCMA issues.

Start off with defined duties and time and signed contract etc at minimum wage and if helps you to increase production work an incentive portion on top of the basic salary.

If it a legal wage and its what you can afford, do it. People need money and you genuinely have a need and offering an opportunity to someone who has the most basic of education requirements.
