Hisense Q8600 Thread

Anyone have their TV seemingly forgetting the Enhanced HDMI setting from time to time? Ie it's still set to that in the menu but the connected device appears to be unaware. Setting it back to "normal" and then back to Enhanced appears to rectify it

But does that not remove the atmos information from the audio stream?

You would think so but receiver shows an atmos signal when playing supported Netflix content and Dolby Digital plus for everything else I.e. YouTube and non atmos Netflix. Try it out. I’m not sure if that is the intended operation for the firmware. Just glad it’s working.

No. But I have had the tv hang when using built in apps. It became completely unresponsive and had to power cycle.

One other annoying issue is if I set hdmi to enhanced mode I lose audio from my explora (original model) decoder and the colour is off.

Any idea if Vida OS will be coming to Q8600?

Pretty sure we should be able to flash the q8600 with a Vidaa OS firmware with some tinkering

Hand raised. I'm having to do this trick every time I turn off TV and the Nvidia Shield. Started this week though after I installed Hotfix on the Shield. So, I thought it was the shield's fault.

This is an old issue that DSTV needs to fix. It's the same on Samsung TVs.

The Q8600 is a niche TV (South Africa and UAE). If you really want Vidaa 4, the only way is to force Hisense. A twitter trend or complaining directly to the company in numbers might help .

You guys should add a dedicated Andriod tv box. Tv OS is not up to par.

It’s not as straightforward as that for me. The problem is that the Hisense TV Firmware controls underlying functionality, such as CEC, that just doesn’t work well. I use an Apple TV box which works perfectly on a Samsung, but not so perfectly on the Hisense because the TV OS is not as good.

So a few days in with this TV and its showing some cracks which i feel could easily be resolved with a firmware upgrade

1. Sound in YouTube ... On both my TVs 55" 8600 in many YouTube videos dialogue goes from sounding centred to feeling spatial and annoying... And it keeps switching between this centred sound and spatial sound. Its only in YouTube. Netflix has none of this ... Im sure others have experienced this

2. The light control is slow to react to changing scenes. Dont think this can be fixed. So you see the light dimming when going from light to dark elements in a scene. Not a train smash and not super noticeable

3. My backlight local dimming is on high and i prefer leaving it like this as watching movies either on netflix or youtube the picture quality is amazing with super deep blacks. But on YouTube or netflix the menus have very noticeable blooming around text espexially gainst a grey or near black background. Funny enough on a black background there is none which makes me think again with firmware tweaking this can be fixed

I have calibrated the tv to a point, based on available test patterns and whilst these issues above feel very fixable the TV for watching real content is amazing. I dont look at a grey or white screen all day on the screen ... so can live with some of the cracks the TV has

Hey there all,

Has anyone figured out what the setting for BFI (Black Frame Insertion) is on the Q8600?

It doesn’t seem to be Judder reduction as I’ve tested different levels of that and it looks like Judder reduction does some processing to speed up the frame rate resulting in artifacts. The H9F has BFI according to RTINGS: “This feature can be enabled by enabling the Motion Clearness setting, under the 'Advanced Settings' menu.“ Unfortunately the setting seems to be absent on the Q8600.

Is there any way we can enable BFI?
It doesn't have it. I had the standard new hisense tvs for a while and it had the option in the menu where game mode is.

With that tv it made the brightness so low it was basically a black screen with it on.

Just received a new Q8600 65", this model has much better motion than the previous 55" I had.

There is a cap humming when turned on. So annoying! Haha, might just return this one as well!

Please don't try this. You will brick your tv.

You need a professional that can tinker, it's to big a risk to modify anything.

I tried out the new vidaa os and it's more or less the same thing with one extra splash screen at the start.

Get an android box. Fire tv, chrome cast, Mii box etc.

So my HDMI 1 has gone bust.

No picture for my av receiver.

When I connect the AV receiver to HDMI 2 I get picture.

Tried with 2 cables 1 brand new. All high speed.

Tried Xbox one and lit box and both not working on that port

Do I log a call with the retailer or Hisense directly?

Seems like all the 55Q8600 are out of stock everywhere

I am also experiencing the sound issue, but mine is on the 55B8000. Seems even more prevalent over my Yamaha soundbar with DTS Virtual:X.

Is there a solution to get rid of that?
