Hisense Q8600 Thread

And the useless "sound bar" on the U8.
Its not useless. It sounds much better than most built in TV speakers. For casual day-time viewing it does a good job. Obviosly if you want more sound, you can use a proper external soundbar/speakers, but still beats most other "onboard" solutions from the likes of Samsung and LG at this price point.

If you can buy a R17k TV but still use it's speakers, you need to reassess your priorities!

Is the B8000 a much worse TV than the Q8600?

Looking to get a 65" TV under R15k
The Q8600 is better, but that doesn't make the B8000 worse. Both good TVs for people who can't afford OLEDs and don't care about branding.

If you had extra $$ go Q8600. Colors are amazing for the price it's going for now.

The B8000 was plain for me when i saw it. Not bad, but the Q8600 can't be compared to it. The Q series is 2 tiers above the B8000.

Thanks - I grabbed the 65U8QF from Esquire today @ R16999 - more than I wanted to pay, but some sort of future-proof

As per my last post a few pages ago, does any really use the smart features of this Q8600? I'm trying to cast from my laptop/cellphone and movies lag so badly (connected to 5ghz network so it should be fast enough), the browser crashes when you open certain web pages (I'm assuming a memory issue) and then the TV plays limited formats from usb/casting. Honestly thinking of buying a TV box. Pay R12k for a "premium TV" and it's smart features are useless!

Just looking to confirm, when watching Dolby Vision content, there are no parameters that one is able to adjust when watching on Dolby Vision Dark?

Only Dolby Vision Bright and Custom allow any changes?

Yes but you can also change DV Dark settings by activating DV whilst you are on the settings page already.

Hi Guys. I downloaded the latest firmware from the Hisense website and stuck it on a USB drive. I then went to TV and chose to upgrade from USB, but it says that I am already on the latest version. But I'm still on J1114

Just switched the TV on and I was greeted by an update screen, says new firmware version available K1110, minor fixes.

Thanks... Odd that I don't find any update on the Q8600. I upgraded via USB to J1127 as per @Hisense SA file several months ago. I wonder if that has to do with it not detecting a new firmware and we not receiving it?

Please post a screenshot of the firmware if you could so we could ask Hisense to provide it to us who are not receiving it. Would appreciate it.
