Whats the feeling around these no neutral type of in wall switches?

Agreed. There's so many guides on flashing these and it really is simple to do. Just a bit of YouTube and reading.

The only situation where I wouldn't flash is if you are not actually going to be connecting it to a home automation system but still want remote access. Perhaps then a Shelly is more suitable, seeing that the Shelly 1 has isolated relays and can run off low voltage?
That's exactly my situation. I just want one for my front gate motor. But I'm pretty sure the Centurion Evo D5 will keep the SV powered via battery power - so not anticipating the random open during load shedding.

I've used the Broadlink version and the hardware is sound - I just have an issue with their ecosystem and sh1tty attitude.

I have some samples of the SONOFF T4 (no neutral required) if anyone is interested: https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-t4eu1c-wi-fi-smart-single-wire-wall-switch.html

Also iFan03, SONOFF RE5V1C and SlampherR2.

Simply put the switch side connected to the light is connected to the neutral, so a minute current bleeds through the light and powers the unit.

on a really low power light like an LED won't this make the light glow very dim?

Why does it loose full power though? Think the problem is it's overwriting the MQTT broker with the new reading, I don't think retain will work.

I'll check mine at home - but if I loose full power - I also loose the readings. (this was only a problem with loadshedding)

Certain lights cannot be used with it and I think the LEDs cannot for this reason.

I actually think LEDs are fine for this, since they are not usually dimmable. They basically have a certain point where they switch on at full power.

Old school halogen or Incandescent bulbs will likely glow dimly, while CFLs are probably a no go all together. I do know some LEDs tend to flicker (basically too little power) and you sometimes get a capacitor that you put in line to allow a little bit of current to bypass the LED and still let current flow for the sonoff.

When you have enough LEDs connected to it (like LED downlights), then little enough current flow through each to turn on the sonoff but not trigger the lights themselves, so usually then no flashing is experienced.

I can do a review if @phaktza sends one this way -- busy putting in LED downlights as we speak.

I'll create a dummy sensor & play around with it. I have a bit of time to kill, and learn a bit more. :)

Started to play around with it, thanks to political powers, had no electricity for 2 odd hours, but all values were retained on startup again.

I would rather then stick with Sonoff if they dont co-op so well.

Can I buy one of the T4's assume you will be getting more stock ?

Will they fit on a normal 2x4 box ?

What does the yaml look like? I’m clearly missing something.

But when you say values are retained you are obviously talking about inside HA, and not your source?
