Home Automation - Smartkit

Nope not my own - I stumped across the QuinLED design - all the hard work already done and tested so did not reinvent the wheel so to speak.
True, however there is not much reinvention involved. The work is mostly an esp8266 and a 5v power source to powe the board and lights. I am not sure what else the QuinLED does over and above that though.

100% The QuinLED will accept voltage between 5-24v and use that to power the LED strip with a single power source, so it seems a little more flexible / neater in one unit.

Hi, I wanted to ask if anybody is using the Hubitat Elevation smarthome hub, Samsung Smartthings hub? What I wanted to find out is what motion sensors you guys are using and are working well for you as well as what door and window sensors you are using. I am leaning towards Zigbee as I know it will work from any country (I think). I have a lot of Sonoff basics and 2 Sonoff Led strips as well as 2 Temp/Humidity switches and a Sonoff Sv. I am just not sure if the Sonoff RF bridge and motion sensor and Door and window sensors will work with the 2 above hubs.

The sensors from Amazon and the like are expensive.

I recently programmed a nodemcu with this —> https://github.com/taligentx/dscKeybusInterface It’s connected to my DSC panel and allows me to interface my HA through the MQTT alarm panel component. All the zones are loaded as binary sensors so I can see when a door is opened/closed or motion sensor triggered. Great for automations (think telegram, lights etc) and I can arm/disarm remotely and see which zones triggered the alarm. I still have my FSK GSM module as a backup for sms notifications and remote management via mobile. Mine is not linked to armed response but I’m sure the two can operate in parallel. You just hooking into the dsc keybus.
Hi Slip,

Busy with this now - was just wondering about how you connected into the keybus - did you use the 15k and 10k resistors to get yours working?

If I read below correctly both clock and ground go into the keybus on the alarm using the required resistor, and either D1, D2 or D8 can be used

Has anyone trained Tesserect with ZA license plates for use with OpenALPR and perhaps has the files (traineddata and conf file) to share? Want to do some automation with specific number plates using OpenALPR on my RPi 4.

I used both the 15k and 10k resistors and I used the following pins

#define dscClockPin D1 // esp8266: D1 (GPIO 5)
#define dscReadPin D2 // esp8266: D2 (GPIO 4)
#define dscWritePin D8 // esp8266: D8 (GPIO15)

I could never get OpenALPR working properly. The cloud one works fine with SA plates but gets expensive quickly.

Not sure what Tesserect is.

Hi All

Please can someone help me I want to connect a Sonoff SV to my garage door motor. I need to find out if anybody has done this with an ET System DC blue garage motor. If so where do you wire the SV on the circuit board.

Any help would be appreciated

See if you can find the manual of the motor online and post here.

The BT contacts.

Take a piece of wire or paper clip and bridge the two pins and it will open/close.

Hi ebendl I found this and I am thinking I can connect to the pins marked as wall switch

Correct.

Like I said test it with a piece of wire to make sure.

If you aren’t using Tasmota I’m not sure if the stock firmware supports the pulse time settings yet.

I have an SV on a ET Blue that is a bit older. Made a whole post of it here somewhere.

You’ll need to make it a dry contact as well first.

HI SauRoNZA

Thanks for the help, yes I have removed the 2 resistors to make it a dry contact. I am going to try set this up with Hubitat elevation hub, so not sure how well this will work???? Also want to connect a reed switch to monitor open or closed.

You running Tasmota?

Then it’s pretty simple. Running a magnetic switch on mine as well, otherwise it would be a bit useless to me.

Can’t comment on Hubitat.

I arguably think the open/close state from the hall/reed sensor is more important to me than being able to open and close the door itself.
I used to forget to close the door often, now Alexa and the iOS home assistant app remind me if its left open.

Thanks guys, is anybody in this thread using the Hubitat or are you mostly using Home Assistant?

Yup same here.

Easier ways than an SV to get only that part done, but nothing wrong with having more for less.
