I have an SV on a ET Blue that is a bit older. Made a whole post of it here somewhere.

I measured with a meter and there is 5v dc on the switch pins, is that correct should it have voltage? Also how long should you short the pins out for, just a touch or longer?

Sounds right to have minor voltage yes.

In human terms just a touch, in programming terms think it was 10 or 15ms to make it work accurately, will need to go check my Pulsetime configuration when I get home.
 
Thanks SauRoNZA, I shorted the ground and the Push contacts and it closes, but when I try and open it with the same method it does not seem to work, it looks as if it tries to keep closing even more, but does not seem to want to open???

Strange it should all be one and the same.

Unless it expects a toggle switch, but that would be the first time I’ve heard of that.

I believe you on the light front, just going from working this morning to again this afternoon was kak enough, especially so with the limited space after putting the Sonoff in.

Did you ever get yours sorted? I tested the ifan3 and the old school fan with pull strings, it seems to work fine although I couldn't tell if the fan speeds were a 100% correct as I removed the blades for bench testing.

I did wire it wrong the first time around and the light would flash with everything off.

Nope, haven’t had a chance to fix it.

Just used the pull string to turn it off and left it at that since I have downlighting in the same room anyway.

This fan was a bit wonky so I actually felt like it was running ever so slightly faster on the top setting than before, could be because it’s plugged into the lights wiring I guess.
 
Hi does anybody here use the Samsung Smartthings sensors, mainly looking at the motion and the Door/windows sensors. If you do where do you buy them from anybody local or are you getting them at Amazon etc.

I have used the TTS feature on the media devices in Home Assistant for this exact same reason.

Sorry to interrupt an interesting discussion with a n00b question.

Where can I get a Sonoff wifi switch that can handle 20 amps, and which can be reblown with Tasmota firmware? I don't want the standard factory firmware phoning home to Shenzhen. Need local network only access to onboard GUI as I connect with VPN. I already have a couple of RFR3s with Tasmota firmware and they're perfect. Just need a switch that can handle 20A without overheating.

I think the nearest you’ll get is the 16A TH16 or POW R2.

Haven’t seen a 20A anywhere from memory.
 
Connected my Sonoff SV today to the garage door and it works 100%, not sure what happened when I was testing as it seemed like it would close but not open, but that was shorting the pins with a bit of wire. Next step I am looking for a reed switch to confirm when the garage is closed, I am in Durban, anybody know where I can get one. I saw one on Alarmtec.co.za good price R125 excl but then the courier fee is R195???

Stupid question, would a normal alarm magnetic sensor not do the same?

Available everywhere. Above is e.g. at builders. Sure, it is not as fancy as the one you linked, but it is much cheaper...

PiShop has the same 'fancy' one, for R170 + R100 shipping.

Looks like the difference may be in the gap distance that the different sensors can tolerate - I'm not sure that a standard reed switch as commonly used will handle a 40mm gap.

I'm not sure if I'm late to the party, but I noticed the ewelink app can now trigger a scene with sunrise/sunset.

Kinda handy, as I've needed to do it via IFTTT before

I think if these guys can sort out their rules (and add new products to IFTTT), they'll make an awesome ecosystem. They should have have a light sensor and then have conditional ruling, so lights will only turn on after dark

Would a bigger magnet not solve any possible gap issue? I see RS-Components have various sizes and shapes available for use in reed switching situations.
