Home Automation - Smartkit

Yea me too :)

Is that not locally available ?
It's on the eBuck store, so I think someone legit must be bringing them and certifying them correctly?

I'm unsure though
Oh I was not aware it was available through them. Wish that the sold single items. I just need a few door sensors and temp gauges.

Also would like to know "Why?"
I have an urn with a broken thermostat.
I can get the Sonoff TH with sensor for well under R300. This solution also makes it a smart urn (turn on and off, maintain temperatures, monitor power usage).
A new urn on the other hand is R800 upwards.

The mi kit was going once at R849 off Bangood.. R37 tax free shipping

Have an ADT hybrid wireless, wired system.

On app I notice a tab for automation. Does ADT have smart home automation systems?

Thanks, wasn't aware. Will check it out ito gate motor control and cameras.
Not sure if locally, but I know there is ADT home automation kits. Might be overseas, but I've seen something like that

Think it's called ADT secure connect or Securehome

Yep but can't find anything on website.

Bit of a limited app for security system. Opted for wireless other than eye protecting the panel of course. Prefer that wired, just in case

Smart home brands I would like to see being sold in SA at reasonable price:

1) Shelly
2) Xiaomi
3) Smartthings accessories
4) Yeelight
5) Any good Zigbee sensors for motion with lux, door/windows contacts and repeaters
7) Zooz Samart Home (getzooz.com)
8) Good quality RGBW smart strip lights (Have the sonoff one but a bit expensive)
9) also heard the ikea smart home brand is good.

Ok found references to a smart home system

But seems more hype than fact

Not questioning the automation, questioning the Urn

Why use an urn instead of a kettle?

but.........how much coffee/tea do you drink te have the need to keep an urn hot?

that's a lot of wasted energy.

Not judging, just curious as to why.

I see it's possible to make a Jura coffee machine smart with an Arduino...think it might be my next project :D Alarm off --> Cappuccino waiting.

Hmm all good, but cup detection will be a bitch/messy. Doesnt the Jura run a rinse cycle on machine start?
